Why would Utah want to negotiate? I'm not saying you would know the answer to that question, but if the leadership at ND thought that negotiating the buyout was a given, that's a really dumb assumption to make. Utah has zero incentive to back off the buyout number. They created the details of the contract to ensure they would be able to hold onto their guy. Sure, maybe offering a home and home or a Shamrock game at Utah might have been possible, but again, that's not something that should have been assumed.

Even if it's true that ND was surprised Utah wasn't willing to negotiate it doesn't make them look any better IMO.

You make good points, but it has to be pretty awkward at Utah to have an OC that doesn’t want to be there.

All valid but it’s a bunch of lawyers. There’s always a deal to be had.

They negotiate things and find the longest way to the finish.

Except they actually couldn't find a deal and they didn't find a way to finish, and again, there was actually no reason to assume there was any negotiation to be made regardless of what normally happens. Utah is facing no repercussions for saying no to any compromise. The same can not be said about ND for assuming there would be room to negotiate (if that's what happened). If it happened this way it was really, really dumb for ND to think a compromise could be made without knowing for sure. It doesn't matter if lawyers do this stuff all the time. They read the room wrong on a very public level.

ND has egg on their face. Utah doesn't.

No it wouldn’t.

It would be bad.

Guidugli is average. Had at least 3 legitimate weapons this past season that were experienced and should have leaned on, but severely underused two of them, and probably underused the third, as well.

Hard pass.

Seems to indicate ND probably isn’t willing to spend for Ludwig and Harding at the expense of Mickens, Stuckey etc

Moral of the story, never try to negotiate with a bunch of fuckin Mormons.... they're about as bad as Irish Pikies...
The bottom line is that after BK last year and tommie this, they're should be plenty o' coin from the buyouts they should've collected from the sec. If Jack and the admin didn't enforce those contracts and collect, it's on them. If those are held in a "cody of doing business coffer" pay the fee and get on with it.

Im paying attention to whatever Brice writes on the situation as he has some access no one else does since they've contracted him to write for the und website. I believe his wife also works in the development office for ND.
The game is afoot, gentlemen.

This is simple… for $6M give me yurcich or a few others….. if you can’t get someone better than figure it out and get Ludwig… if jack doesn’t want Ludwig fine, find someone better tomorrow, or else get him

Settling for OC is not an option with this offensive potential!!!!!
