It’s Super Bowl week, why is any coach answering any question outside of the game?

Also, there was a very long and logical discussion in this thread about Johnson. It would be a great hire and surprising that he was supposedly interviewing since he seems in line for an NFL OC gig.

Not much changes if he doesn’t come, as it would have been a major shock if he did.

It’s been stated in this thread and acknowledged by Loy that Freeman is sealing the leaks within the Gug. Doesn’t mean it’s “expanding” out of striking out with others, we most likely are just now finding out because it’s taken longer for the beat to catch wind.

Oh lord calm down. It's been reported the staff has reached out to like 24 people total. The board hasn't expanded and it's in the due diligence phase. If we start hearing these reports next week about the board expanding, then feel free to go full disaster mode.

Agreed. MF has to be super deliberate here. The good news is that he’s indicated for the last 14 months that he is a thoughtful and discerning type of decision maker.

I’d be highly worried if he went all “O my gerd! I love love love you as a coach! It would be so awesome if you could, like, start tomorrow. Please sign on the dotted line. #winning “

This sort of begs the question, if MF is sealing all these leaks, how does Loy even know that? How are “reputable” reporters even throwing names out and/or have any idea what MF’s board does and doesn’t look like or what qualities he does and doesn’t value in an OC?

This is almost always the way our coaching searches go. Lots of optimism in the beginning, usually with unrealistic expectations. Eventually we wind up with everybody's 5th-7th lukewarm option and we have to pretend it's awesome
