I have always wondered but do the players get upset if they share a number with another player?

I'd hope not. These boys chose Notre Dame. They should be above low level ego issues like that.

The boys ain't gonna fight over numbers!

Its not hard to tell who's jersey it is even if they are both the same number. If its a small or medium its gonna be Toma's. Large - XXXLarge is Nixx.
Heck I wanna sport 2 now :D

Go Irish

Toma vs Nix one-on-one in the trenches collision drill. We'll see who the REAL number nine is. I predict Robbie hands Louis a sandwich and then cut-blocks him. Gotta watch those islanders every second.

Ishaq wearing #1 is pretty cool.

i was going to ask this in a new thread...because i think ishaq wearing #1 is pretty pimp too, but,who was the last dominant #1 at nd?

3, 5, 9, 10 have pretty good track records.

any other favorites of the board?

Actually, a more generous comment to one of favorite guys would have been to say, yeh, I can see how someone would have mixed up the numbers for the two years, and gee thanks Neutered, that was nice of you to post the old media guide---neat to look at it again. Damm, doesn't that feel better??

Please excuse my ignorance, but why aren't there enough numbers to go around? Seems counterintuitive, since there is an infinite supply of numbers, and a finite number of football players on a team. Do the players get to pick their numbers, and is that why one number gets used more that once? If that's the case, what would happen if every player chose the same number?

I'm confused.

There are enough numbers to go around, but I'm sure some people would like to wear their number from high school or their favorite number or whatever the case is. As long as 2 players won't be on the field at the same time, its perfectly fine to have the same number as someone else. Incoming freshmen would have to pick from what's left over and wait until people graduate if they want a certain number that isn't available.

There is also the problem of the positions people play, as offensive linemen must wear 50-79? QBs usually must wear 1-19 RBs wear 1-49. Wrs 1-49(30s and 40s unlikely) and 80-89. And so on. Therefore there can be overlap and restirctions as to what number you have.
