I know there is a thread out there about career path but for one reason or another I could not find it.

I just wanted to post this because it is rather exciting to me. As some may know I have been getting into art lately. I have grown leaps and bounds when it comes to drawing but while at work ( I work in the city of Houston Jail) my work was noticed by the right people. Now I have been given the opportunity to study underneath the greatest sketch artist ever, Lois Gibson.

Hopefully when my one month internship ends I will be able to jump into a sketch artist career somewhere throughout the United States.

It may sound easy but learning from her. She is a major spearhead to make forensic art prominent throughout, not only the US but worldwide. She has informed me that there are less than 20 full time sketch artist in the US. Even though they catch a crook roughly 30% of the time. That number may seem low but finger prints have only a 10% success rate and that is used everywhere.

Hopefully I can make that next move, then maybe ya'll will see me on TV one day, haha. Or I may sketch someone on this board. ;)

Everyone gets caught eventually. I love a challenge though.

<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/8zGvtBCgKeY" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I often see a small blue box with a question mark in your posts (and others) where it's clear that a graphic or photo has been inserted. Usually I shrug it off and chalk it up to the limitations of my "ancient" Apple or a symbiosis when it comes to new things or the "latest."

Then I blithely move on.

Now my curiosity is piqued. Any hints about the content of the pic/gif/mov or links?

I fear, although a good tune, we were not on the same track. (pun intended) I just put a picture of the movie "Catch Me If You Can".

Ahhh ... now I understand. I can see the pic now. Did you change the file type? If so, keep it in mind for future reference. I will be grateful (dead or not-dead-yet, makes no nevermind). And maybe a bit more enlightened.

My guess is that the movie was made after 1987, the year my son was born, so the reference is lost on me. [SIGH]

Let me try another song. Long, I know, but you might know it. Regardless, enjoy it. Just trade "Shine" with "Sketch."

Although the movie "Catch Me If You Can" was released in 2002 it was about Frank Abagnale. He was a con artist that started in the 1960's but eventually, after his capture, worked for numerous agencies to help prevent fraud. In the movie it says he worked for the FBI but in reality that wasn't that accurate.

It is a rather interesting movie, highly recommended.

Catch Me If You Can is highly entertaining and perfectly paced. Very easy to watch. Wait this isn't "movies you just saw" thread?!

Congratulations, and I hope a sketch career is in the cards for you. Just something to keep in mind if the jobs don't materialize though, I have it on good authority that some men will pay good money for a likeness of unclothed women. Especially if her name rhymes with "Jate Tupton."
