NCAA 2nd Round ND 10 minute Interview
NCAA 2nd Round ND 10 minute Interview
Koko, Marina, and Muffet.
Koko and Marina fill the first 4 or 5 minutes and Muffet the rest.
The players were asked about Kat's loss and how they dealt with that. Koko replied deadpan, "We've have a couple of injuries this season. We're used to adjusting." Both players and McGraw praised Kat's steadying influence on team play.
McGraw note the 2nd quarter was the best ND has played all year. She wasn't happy about the defensive lapses in the game particularly leaving Brooks all alone on several shots. She praised both Brooks and Fluker. She mentioned ND played "man" and several opponents end up open in transition.
Muffet's discussion of facing Nova is enlightening and worth the listen.
She noted ND will not match up well against Nova. They have 5 players that can shoot from the perimeter. "We can't have our bigs chasing people around the outside." Most teams use about 15 seconds of the clock. Nova likes to use all of the clock to slow to reduce possessions. She added that there was no one in the ACC nor on ND's schedule that plays Nova style.
From looking at Nova's roster, posted earlier in this thread, they don't have dominant bigs. Tallest player is 6-2 and they only have 1 6-2 Center, a forward 6-1 and a 6-0 forward. Playing in the paint is not their game. They're going play perimeter ball.
On offense, ND needs to play ND's game, Marina's treys, Jess to the glass, Rico should drive, pop from the outside AND dish.
Nova likes to shoot 3s but as a team they average 33, 3s attempted a game making 9. Five of their players shoot better than 33% but none shoot better than 39. Their 6-2 Center, Megan Quinn, has taken 78 3s making 21, 26%.
6-1 Guard, Gedaka, is the FG Ace shooting 60% but only averages 11.7 ppg. Three other players average 11 ppg. 6-0 Guard, Alex Louin averages 11.9 ppg and is the leading rebounder, 7 rpg, and leading assist maker, 2.9 apg a has 6 double doubles. Nobody else on the team has a double double. Hahn, 5-6 Guard, 11.1 ppg and Jekot, 6-0 Guard averages 11.2 ppg. 5-0 Guard, Tucker adds 9.0 ppg.
Louin is the leading FT shooter sinking 90 of 118 trips to the line. She's physical and uses a lot of hands and body on offense and defense.
This is a Guard Offense, 9 of the 12 girl roster are guards, average 56.7 ppg or 83.2% of the Total Offense.
Their Center, 6-2 Mary Quinn average 5.4 ppg and combined with the 2 forwards 6-2, Bridget Herlihy, and 6-0, Brianna Herlihy the BIGs average 10.7 ppg.
