Heacock wanted to bring his own defensive coaches which was a non starter for Freeman. It really never even got that close contrary what football scoop said they weren't anywhere near negotiating a contract.

He's been with Matt Campbell going back to Toledo. He's likely had plenty of chances to leave and he's still there. This idea that it's a "bad look" for ND is just keyboard crybaby garbage. The guy can clearly coach. He's also been at a program where they have already exceeded expectations and then some, so the idea that he's comfortable there at Iowa State has a nice Bud Foster type of feel to it.

ND made him an offer, he turned it down, but you've got dudes on this board saying it's bad optics for ND? A 61 year old coach making six figures at Iowa State was the apple of Notre Dame's eye and he turned them down, but it never occurs to people in our own fanbase that HE is the one with the fucking problem.
