It's still Michigan. I'd enjoy watching us kick the crap out of their JV tennis team, and then brag about it all year. And FWIW, they'd probably have more opt-outs than we do. We don't have that many high picks or likely early departures.

I'm curious to see what Hartman would do in that situation. He is not likely to be a high draft pick regardless - this year's QB class is so stacked - and he seems to simply enjoy being a college football player more than most. Maybe he'd take one more ride. And if not, good opportunity for Angeli/Minchey to get some real action.

I heard on a pod or one of the studio shows that scUM has SEVEN OL who could get drafted this year. Maybe I heard wrong but that’s crazy if true.

II said today that he had two pick 6 INTs on screen reads last year……..not sure who the other team was besides PSU.

I watched the OSU vs PSU game last year and the kid went wild. He had two picks and a couple sacks.

As I was watching the ND game I told a buddy if they run a screen to run it away from him. And then he almost picked it.

Freeman isn’t questioning any play calls he’s questioning execution…. Hopefully it’s coach speak and he realizes some moments you need to run a play that’s easy to execute,
Especially when trying to run out clock you can’t take a big loss.

The screen pass wouldn’t have even crossed Parker’s mind if the play before wasn’t a trash fire.

Hartman immediately gets the ball back with 2 minutes and must drive the field to win this time, instead of OSU having the same scenario.

Almost as bad as 10 on the field was how badly that offensive drive was managed. Every running play = 40 seconds off the clock. It is so basic. Worse case scenario they would get ball back with no timeouts. Parker basically helped OSU. Incredible.

It’s easy to say that after the fact but had that screen pass connected, all would laud his aggressive play call to go in for the kill rather than play not to lose. I agree with you, in hindsight I wish there had been more runs. It was also mentioned today that Hartman actually turned the wrong way on the running play where he kept the ball and lost 5 yards. I guess Hartman helped OSU and so did Bertrand when he had the offsides call prior to the punt. It‘s pretty basic that plenty of things helped OSU win the game. DJ Brown helped OSU also when he dropped the INT that hit him in the hands. How many times do we need to beat a dead horse? There were mistakes and it’s over, learn from them and move forward.

But to others point, and maybe freeman’s, you either complete the pass or take the sack in that situation. You can’t throw it into traffic. It probably wasn’t a run the clock out play they ever worked on for that situation, and why it was a poor play call.

Yep. The biggest problem was the screwed up run.

I don’t know if Hartman kept it because he wanted to keep or because he thought if he gave it to Love it could be a fumble. But JTT was in on that play before it (slowly) developed, Coogan couldn’t block him, and we were behind the sticks with our momentum crashed into a brick wall.

A straightforward run there probably nets several yards at least and we don’t even think about a screen pass or stopping the clock ever again.

I heard a post game reporter ask why the 10-men on the field in the red zone keeps happening and referenced the TSU game. I'm not sure I realized that happened...? If so, holy shit...three times this year through 5 games? That is endemic and not just a mistake or oversight. That is blatant negligence.

Unrelated, but I've been struggling with Freeman's talk of being aggressive and how that isn't aligning to what Golden and Parker (at times) are doing in the game. I don't want to harp too much on Parker, because I think he generally called a good game (I just happen to think he should've ran the ball with Estime on the last series, but I digress). With Golden, however, playing soft on 3 and 19 when you are only up 4 points is the exact opposite of being aggressive. They need to sort their identity out and get on the same page.
