This isn't the thread to discuss it in great detail, so all I will say is:

-IMO: Mormons don't give two craps about the plight of others
-IMO: All those missions serve a purpose that isn't as warm and fuzzy as they appear

To be fair...... I never said that they CARE about the plight of others, just that they are more likely to be AWARE of the plight of others.

Tell me this isn't a required class. If it is, my donations are done.

Depends. If you're a middle or upper class white individual with a "D" behind your name, you're a noble person fighting for the "oppressed" and the "poor."

If you're a middle or upper class white individual with an "R" behind your name, you are greedy and don't care about the poor.

That's the narrative.

I always knew I was a bad guy :/

I understand, just wanted to get on my Mormon soapbox for a quick minute.

Oh no don't teach me about the plight of others! The only racism is white people being called racism! Black people and Native Americans and Mexicans are just lazy! There's no institutionalized and structural racism!

Have you been in the Ferguson thread? NJNP hates white people.

No italics.

That's a logical conclusion considering he loves having conversations with himself in these threads and refuses to answer my simple, direct questions to him.

You're going to be in for a rough time if you expect to send your kids to college and not have their status quo and their beliefs challenged. Maybe you should just send your kids to Liberty or BYU if you don't want your kids to be aware of the plight of others. The Catholic Church and social justice go together. Go to a protestant sect if you don't want your kids to care about others.
Well considering I'm an atheist I don't particularly care what the Catholic Church or any church teaches.

There's a difference between challenging the status quo and fairy tales. I wouldn't shell out thousands of dollars to send my kid through courses that teach alternative versions of reality and shame my kid for the color of her skin. "White privilege" is a myth and a fairy tale so that people whose lives aren't what they wanted them to be have an excuse. It's a choice to be a victim in life.

I didn't grow up rich neither did my wife. I've been dirt poor and nearly homeless at points in my life. I've been laid off and been unemployed. At varying times my family had to go with out healthcare. I used to make like 800 bucks every 2 weeks averaging about 45 hours a week when I lived in south Georgia. Where the f**k was my "white privilege"? Everyone has hard times, it's called life. I'm thankful for those struggles though because it gave an edge and now I'm a college graduate out in southern California doing well. It's easy to blame other people for your problems but that's being a victim.

"Go to a protestant sect if you don't want your kids to care about others." Nice. That sounds like that "love of Christ" I always hear so much about. WWJD? Apparently hate protestants.

I love y'all's tears in this thread. Sorry people are acknowledging the white privilege in America.

Where's my white privilege? I grew up in a single parent household with a parent unable to work due to disability. Literally as poor as you could be. I had to work hard myself to get into college, except I didn't get the benefit of affirmative action that most others in my socio economic background had.

Yeah there are still white poor people. It's just easier to get over being poor as a white person than being a black person. Your jail sentences are disproportionately longer, you're less likely to get callbacks on job interviews, you're not getting followed through a store, you're not getting targeted by police, you're not told negative stereotypes your whole life about your race, you don't have to worry about being judged for your color or being the representation of a whole race.

All of your problems in life are the fault of other people. You have no responsibility in life, you are weak and unable to master your own destiny. Please continue to vote for greater government intervention so weak and defenseless people such as yourself can be cared for and protected.

Because they think white privilege isn't real, so they aren't in the real world.
My daughter will be taught to never feel sorry for herself and to never blame her problems on anyone else. It's called personal responsibility, it's what civilization is built on.

When will they be doing a course on how Obungler did Benghazi and killed millions when he took away all of our guns?
