Offered Tony Sanders today. Ranking won’t excite ya but solid prospect this late in the class.

Thanks for posting. ND scooped up Matt Farrell late in the process so I can trust this.

In the top 6 for transfer from Kentucky. Johnny Juzang.
Was ranked 30 in class a year ago. He’s a exact fit for our wing player. Drains 3s with consistency. Really good player. Brey is on him about how well he will fit and play righ away.

Would have to sit a year tho. Then have 3 years remaining

ND’s actually doing some serious recruiting this spring (shouldn’t take a pandemic but you take what you can get) as they’ve offered some 2020’s William Jeffress and Tony Sanders. They’ve also offered damn near every high academic transfer possible and are in it for a couple of dudes. We’ll see if they can actually finish but I’m liking what I’m seeing for now on the recruiting front which I never thought I’d say. They can add as many as 4 transfers or freshman to this class so they’ve got to get some bodies. Main priority should be getting an immediately eligible big man to play with Nate and Juwan. I’d do 2 grad transfers (1 big, 1 little) and then 2 sit out transfers or freshman.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL - good one

Brey is probably doing his normal recruiting which is zero contact - everyone else has the brakes put on. ND MBB recruiting is built for a pandemic.

I hope Brey can land Blake Wesley as he is in ND's backyard. Seems like ND BB is focusing on transfers at the moment??

Excited. Still some more pieces to hunt down I assume. One or two of the transfer guys would be awesome.

A low key boss move for Brey to come in so late and get Sanders in the class. Like mentioned previously, he had some noteworthy offers.

Get a transfer or two and Wesley for 21', things start are starting to look up.

I like his finishing ability and the way he craves contact. If he can put 15 pounds of muscle on he can make an impact right away. That said, I don't think we saw a single jumper in the mix there. Hopefully that just wasn't included, because we don't need another Rex Phluerger.

Much needed - is that a true 6'7" or more like 6'5"? Either way very serviceable body that is infinitely better than an empty chair.

I think it’s about balance and some of these guys fitting well with each other. It makes for some nice inside/outside combos with Taylor/Zona and Sanders/J.R. Konieczny (21’). Instead of a stretch 4 you have a stretch 5 with a physical inside 4. The two 3’s are quite opposite in the sense that one is very thin but has a good offensive skill set. May take sometime to become a quality defender. While the other is fairly physically mature, runs the floor well, will probably rebound the position well, and be a plus defender.

I know this is probably a dumb question but can all 3 freshman redshirt if we have enough depth if we get transfers?

No chance all 3 redshirt. Also, ND’s at 10 scholarships. If by some miracle they got to 13 then maybe 1-2 guys redshirt if the transfers aren’t redshirting themselves. Right now the only two transfers ND has made the final list for is Trey Wertz and Johnny Juzang. There’s still a long way to go with likely another 300+ names minimum hitting the portal. Bottom line is as a fan you have to hope Brey can get to 13. That way he could redshirt one of the transfers and the worst freshman and boom you’ve got depth finally.

BGI actually had a decent podcast revolving around this, and brought up a very good point (which surprised, as I love Lou S., it's not usually great for basketball).

If nothing else, this gets us back to a more balanced recruiting schedule. I'm not sold on this class, but seems like there is some optimism around it.

We still need at least another big. Just a bruiser to help defend and rebound.

I'd love another point guard, but I'm not sure the Wertz kid is that type of player, and with the teams involved, they may have more room at the point (we have an established point guard, and Brey isn't exactly known for his rotations).

Luther Mohammad is transfering from OSU. I "think" we basically gave him and Carmody a chance to commit for the last spot, and Carmody got the nod (maybe it was Goodwin).

Not sure we have any openings for his position.

Did see a big from Colgate on the market as well. Would be a good one to go after.

ISD has been saying they expect Brey to continue to look at the transfer market. So, I’d expect he gets something done. Just a matter of what versus if. But maybe that’s optimistic, I don’t know.

I'd be shocked if Brey didn't try to get to 13. Pretty much all 3 freshman could redshirt if they have the numbers. Plus there could be some sort of transfer waiver coming this summer. Right now they've got 10 scholly's and that's not good enough for the ACC. I'm also kind of disappointed he didn't go after the Ivy League kids and Rich Kelly (Quinnipiac). There were some nice shooters in that league and ND is an obvious step for some of those kids to go into. After saying all of that, I think ND's got plenty of time because the transfer portal could go near 1,000 kids this cycle so they'll have some new dudes popping up over the next few weeks. I hope to see Brey get closer to the Tony Bennett model of roster building which he's already close to. Brey likes to keep a dude or two to develop down the road, but Tony Bennett likes to always get to 13 if he can and redshirt 2-3 dudes if he can. I think after a few years of being so limited in numbers, Brey will push closer to the limit, especially with incoming freshman who could sit (it's not like they're top 100 recruits who will leave if redshirted).

Jeff Goodman came out with a grad transfer ranking list. Here are the bigs available

9) Jordan Bruner, 6-9, 205, PF, Sr., Yale
Stats: 10.9 ppg, 9.2 rpg, 3.8 apg
Scout’s take: “His greatest attribute is his skill. Excellent feel for his size. That, plus his athleticism makes him a very tough matchup. Can float around at times.”
Schools: Baylor, Maryland, Alabama
10) Rapolas Ivanaauskas, 6-10, 230, PF, Grad, Colgate
Stats: 13.1 ppg, 7.6 rpg
Scout’s take: “Can play the four or the five. Can pick and pop, pick and roll, capable 3-point shooter who is very aggressive in the post and can score over either shoulder and either block, but he’s best when his isolated on the right block. Will back you down and usually it’s not coming back out.”
14) Brandon Johnson, 6-8, 200, F, Jr., Western Michigan
Stats: 15.4 ppg, 8.1 rpg
Scout’s take: “Inside/out guy who has a motor. Can defend BCS size at the four. Shoots 3’s and can score in the post. Is a competitor. Can definitely help a high-major team and carve out a role on a good team.”
31) Mattias Markusson, 7-3, 261, C, RS Jr., Loyola Marymount
Stats: 10.2 ppg, 6.3 rpg (2018-19)
Scout’s take: “High-character young man. Legit 7-3. Good hands and a double-double guy. Works hard and driven to be good. Tremendous shooting touch.”
Schools: Georgia Tech, Wake Forest, Southern Miss, Minnesota, San Diego State, Arizona State, Washington State, Arkansas, Ohio State, Virginia Tech, Boise State, Seton Hall, Utah, Louisville, Texas Tech
33) Evan Cole, 6-10, 230, F, Grad, Georgia Tech
2019-20 stats: 4.4 ppg, 3.6 rpg
Scout’s take: “Tremendous cutter/slasher who loves to crash the offensive glass and get out in transition. Best with movement and playing downhill, has struggled finding his perimeter shooting consistency. Tough kid who is capable of guarding bigger guys and can surprise you guarding better athletes.”
Schools: BYU, Ohio State, Cincinnati, Boston College, Santa Clara, ETSU, Boise State, URI, Wichita State, Washington State

I hope they go after these dudes (if grades work out) and they can snag a dude. It would be great to have Brandon Johnson, Juwan Durham and Nate Laszewski all splitting minutes. Definitely need a 3rd big to rotate in.
