Per Pete Sampson:

Source: Notre Dame expected to hire Chansi Stuckey from Baylor as its next receivers coach.

The Irish also interviewed JaMarcus Shepard from Purdue, but went with the former Clemson receiver with NFL experience. Stuckey impressed the Irish staff in his interview Wednesday.

I have no idea what to think about this hire. It seems like maybe they could have had Shephard, but went this route. Have to trust their judgement.

What did Stuckey do for 7 or 8 years between playing and becoming a video graduate assistant in '19?

The cynical side will point toward Plan B, possibly outbid or just it didn’t want to go the level Shepard wanted or Wiggins is at. The glass half full will say Rees was blown away by a up and comer. We will see

Maybe he turns out to be a good coach. He has a pretty underwhelming resume though.

I also would not underrate regional ties he will have

I really do not like this hire. Obviously we don't know how the interviews went, but he better be on the fucking Mount Rushmore of salesmen if we want this hire to be better than the other two options over the next few years because I honestly have no idea what he is going to sell recruits on compared to the other two guys.

To where? He was a GA and an analyst from 19-20 at clemson and the WR coach at baylor for 1 year. I doubt he's built a lot of relationships.

Maybe MF just hires Jim Laurinaitis as LB coach and DC now? He seems to have about the same experience as Stuckey.

He’s from Georgia and went to Clemson before the NFL. That can play recruiting wise going into the SE for receivers. Maybe not, but that’d be the hope.

Maybe. If MF and TR are hiring dudes based off of where they grew up though, we're in for a world of trouble.

Because ND interviewed both candidates and took Stuckey.
Right. Because humans are infallible.

Anyone with any constructive insight on why Stuckey > Shepherd other than our overlords deemed it so?

Thinking about it, I would have preferred more experience given the composition of the staff. That being said, I know nothing about this dude and he might be great.

That is the insight. They interviewed both and liked Stuckey more.
