I know acceptance letters were sent out last week for early admits. Did anybody on the board get accepted or know someone who did?

I remember getting my transfer letter being the proudest moment of my life and I was hoping we could share in those moments with other posters. Congrats to all who did get accepted. It's a life changing experience.

Mods, I know we've discussed this in other threads. I looked and couldn't find them. Merge this thread if necessary - sorry in advance.

The second letter I posted is from my friend, whom I have known since I was in kindergarten so we are pretty friendly. For anybody wondering, he was a 4.0, 2190 SAT, winter and spring track, member of a church youth group, and ran I think one club at the school. Did a lot of community service.

Just curious what's 2190 equivalent to for those who took SATs that had a perfect score of 1600?

Statement likes this leads me to think your friend was female. :)

While it is inevitably problematic to try to compare the new SAT to the old- given the changes to the verbal section and the mandatory writing section and having no idea what his breakdown was- this is roughly equivalent to a 1460 (2190x 2/3).

Oh, and congratulations to those who were accepted!

Isn't the ACT more of the national standard than the SAT these days?

When I got my acceptance letter I had a buddy over at my house who had already received a rejection letter from ND earlier that day. When she came back from the mailbox my mom freaked out and wanted to celebrate while my disappointed buddy was literally around the corner ... I had to tell her to chill out and wait till my buddy left, since I didn't want to make my buddy feel worse than he already did. Probably the sternest I've ever had to get with my mom, haha. Anyway it sucked to have to hold in my excitement ... if anyone is in a similar boat, celebrate with us!

Also, to anyone who didn't get in ... don't sweat it! because A) you'll do fine wherever you end up if you work hard and work smart, all the stuff we say about SEC schools, etc., notwithstanding, and B) if you really want to go to ND, you can still go the transfer route like RackEm.

I'm a big believer in not freaking out. I put all my freak-out energy into football, lol.

depends on the area. I know here in New Jersey people rarely take the ACT unless they think they will do better on it than the SAT. Everyone(at least at my school) took the SAT.

Hopefully I will be getting my acceptance letter in May or June. I wish I put the effort into high school I did this first semester of college.

ND doesn't look at the writing section, so they only look at the 1600 total.

I and a ton of my classmates were accepted (our school sent 20+ kids a couple years ago).

Congrats SLU! Very excited for you and everyone else who might be headed to ND next year. It was an unbelievable experience for me.

Same boat

I dont want to be a downer. But I had over a 4.0 from Marian with goods SAT scores and letters of recommendation from a Notre Dame professor as well as a Holy Cross father that has been at ND since the 50's and worked with Tony Rice and Carlyle Holiday. As long with others that thought I would be perfect and it was my absolute. I didnt get in.

Saying this, I am now at Xavier University (because we dont have football) and I love it. I am now a Senator on Student Government there and am about to graduate and go to law school.

While Notre Dame is the greatest University on the face of this earth and my dream and I want to get a degree and say that I am a Domer.. Fall in love with your school while you are there.

Not trying to give a speech, but I truly do mean that.

I was deferred. All signs pointed to me getting in, with high test scores, GPA, and a great extracurricular resume, but there was a limited number of spots for my high school and three kids got them ahead of me. Two were less qualified than me but kids of alumni, and one doesn't even want to go to Notre Dame. Needless to say, it's been a rough week.

To those that didn't get accwpted, watch Rudy tonight for inspiration. With hard work and dedication, you may be there one day. Minus the whole footbal experience.

Going the Rudy route to go to ND.

Burning,
Good luck moving forward, my man.

PGTF,
Awesome choice. Transferring is so much more fun than getting admitted as a frosh. The camaraderie is insane among the transfers. When I was a senior, other students wanted to come to our transfer parties because we were so much fun.
Just work hard and make sure to MATCH UP YOUR CLASSES TO WHAT NOTRE DAME REQUIRES FOR A FRESHMEN WITH YOUR MAJOR. I cannot stress that enough.

Accepted to Notre Dame's law school a few days ago with a nice sized scholarship. Still waiting to hear back from a few other schools though.

wow big congrats! Great law school. I have a number of friends from undergrad who stayed for NDLS and they had a great experience and are doing great now professionally. Choosing a law school is often a way different decision from choosing your undergrad school though ... these days it requires a more careful cost/benefit analysis and assessment of goals, because it can be a bad investment if you can't/don't want to go the big firm route ... I went through that a few years ago and I'll be curious where you end up.

Really am aiming for a large law firm in Chicago so looking to go to the best school possible that places well in Chicago. Northwestern, ND and Michigan are my top 3.

If I get into Northwestern, it'll be tough to say no to that opportunity.
