Why? They're probably around the 25th best team in the country. 5 seed is being generous.

Come on man... you're wasting valuable internet space.

Villanova (or maybe Oregon) is the most overrated "top tier" team in the country.

I'll agree with your Nova & Oregon assessments but someone strange has to make it.. It came down to Zona or Nova and I picked Jay Wright because he dresses better than Sean.

Tipoff is at (roughly) 9:40 on Friday night. 30 minutes after the WVU/SFA game ends.

Stephen F. Austin is always dangerous. They won a game 2 years ago and came close last year as well. They went undefeated in conference play...competition is very weak but they shouldn't be starstruck.

Not sure how I feel about having to deal with playing the play-in winner. Seems to have it's advantages and disadvantages.

How long has Thomas Walkup been in school? Every time, for about the last 10 years, when SFA is mentioned, he's mentioned as their best player.

He's the Trevor Cooney of mid-majors.

Only seems that way because it's a rarity for kids to stay all four years these days and he's been starting since day one. He broke all sorts of records at IU. I think he's one of the best PGs in the country but his size will lessen his draft stock. I'm not sure I see him being successful in the NBA.

IU as a 5 seed is almost criminal BUT they do suck on the road, they did just lose to UM in the conf. tournament, and they had a fairly easy B1G schedule this year. I value them as a 4 seed, so I wasn't totally let down when they got announced as a 5. They're in the East though, so I don't see them getting out alive. I'm not sure how they match up against UK and even if they get passed them, I don't see how they beat UNC. They have it in them to play great defense, shoot high percentage from 3, and low turnover margin...but it's rare that they put it all together in a single game.

There were four teams that I really wanted to avoid as a 6/7 seed and they were MSU, Purdue, OU and WVU. For OU, I just don't think ND has good enough defense to shut them down. I think the other three would torch us on the glass.

As it stands, ND is 247th in the country in defensive rebounding %, at just under 71%. Purdue is first at 80%, MSU third at 79.5% and WVU is 75th at 74.6%. Likewise, offensive rebounding %'s are scary. WVU is first in the country at over 41%, MSU is 17th at 36% and Purdue is 41st at 32.8%. ND is 71st BTW, at 30.9%. Total rebounding %....MSU 1st in the country, Purdue is 3rd and WVU is 8th and ND is........105.

Assuming ND get's into the second round, it will take DJ playing his best game of the year along with tight officiating to offset WVU's physical play. If that happens, ND has a chance. If that doesn't happen, it will take a fantastic shooting night to beat WVU.

I think ND could beat WVU, but I am not very confident in it at all. I think the game will flow like the UNC game from this last weekend, where ND struggles to score consistently and gives up offensive rebound after offensive rebound. WVU will not shoot like UNC did, but I don't think it will matter if ND can't control the glass. If ND pairs against WVU, I like WVU by 13.

Part of me wants to pull the trigger on WVU being upset in the 1st round and part of me thinks I'm an idiot and I should be putting them in the Final Four.

I'm very well aware of Yogi. Living in Indy, it's not hard to know who he is. Dunham at Butler feels the same way given he's started all four years. Did you know the Star did an article on Ferrel years ago? The title of the article was "Best 4th grade player in the country." How in the hell would anyone know that?

Look out for Sparty. Like every year, Izzo has them peaking at the right time.

That's the beauty of the tournament. I think both are possible.

I put money on Huggins though. He's a scoundrel, but he's been here before.

Final Four = UNC, UVa, A&M, Nova

UNC beats Nova for the title.

How did the rest of you guys do?

If UNC wins tonight I win a 1000 person pool, if not some homer from Philly gets the crown. I'll finish 55 of 67. The other guy would win with 49 but since it's a stupid weighted by round scoring method, he gets the W.
