Lillard absolutely shafted Haliburton last night. Dude couldn’t help himself and shot 23 f’n 3s. It would have a been a fun story if Haliburton would have won MVP in front of his home crowd but Lillard made it about himself. The Indy fans even turned on Lillard.

Probably for earlier this year when they played. Would have loved to leave Haliburton get it. He's so likeable compared to many of the stars.

Does it then become the norm for the hosting city’s all-star player winning every time? BORING!

Yeah I live about 15 mins west of downtown Indy and I didn’t go down to see any of the festivities once. All stars games are good for the host city but I had no interest, most of the players would rather not be there so I didn’t waste my time

Doesn't matter which of the four North American sports we're dealing with: if the players don't care, all the tactics and gimmicks won't work. You're not going to incentivize them with more bonus money either.

If people don't want to watch it, no one is forcing them to.

I agree 100%.

What I have seen from a lot if not most of these NBA players is that they are generally good people who do a lot for their communities and charities. Rather than give players bonuses or incentives, I would like to see the winning team receive a sizeable donation to be given to a charity in the host city. Winning team gets to donate to their charity (something in the 10 MIL range). Losing team gets a smaller donation (somewhere in the 1-2 Million range)
As part of the weekend, have ALL players (even the ones with huge egos) go to these charities/ hospitals and meet the kids/ adults they are playing for. Good publicity for the charity, players, and the players' brand. These players got into the league because they are competitors. I think when you have the motivation to go out there and not only put on a show, but also you have a chance to build a bond between community and their heroes all while promoting a competitive ALL Star game. Bring the competitiveness out through the incentive of helping those who will never have the opportunity to be in the NBA players' shoes.
Hell, also give a large donation to the Offensive MVP and Defensive MVP's charities of choice. Make players work on both sides of the floor.

One thing that stands out to me is during the MLB All Star Weekend and the Home Run derby. I just remember the guys trying to win for their respective person so that person could win a house and change their life for the better. I also remember certain players walking over after they were eliminated and apologizing and letting them know they tried. And I also remember how special it was for the players to stand next to the person they just won a house for.

Maybe I'm way off but I think this would a be a step in the right direction.

The Thunder’s rebuild has been crazy. They have this team already with note draft assets

It’s not just the ASG. It’s the sport as a whole. It’s almost not even the same sports as it was in the 90s. The NBA evolution is like watching MMA turn into the WWE. It sort of looks the same but completely different.

Wow Knicks looking great tonight. Brunson is some kind of special. Dude has quickly become one of the most exciting players in the league and best. Utterly fearless.

I'm not sure he'll be able to stay healthy if he adds too much mass. Human joints aren't built for what he is.
This is the fear. To be that tall isn't typical and he's likely going to endure foot problems chronically.

Needs his own Alex Guerrero.

I'd be curious to know what the Spurs and/or their medical/strength staff believe is the best for him to stay healthy long term. I just think intentionally adding weight, even muscle, could potentially increase the liklihood of foot, ankle, knee issues, etc. But then again, what the hell do I know?

I'll tell you what I know: plantar fasciitis. Wemby, Chet, etc. are guys you have to be concerned about when it comes to the long term ability to avoid foot, ankle and knee issues. Yao Ming proved that.

Being that tall is not natural.

It'll he interesting for sure. The good news is that his game doesn't rely on a lot of explosive movement, but it feels like every big man with his build is one foot injury away from being perpetually in street clothes.
