Postgame Thoughts:
1. I liked how ND started the game passing.
2. If Leonard can keep evolving his passing game we become harder to beat.
3. Along with 1 & 2- TD's by Mitchell and Collins we need to see more of those 2 and Faison & Greathouse in the slot in the passing game.
4. Jeremiyah Love is a beast he is NFL ready.
5. Kendren Young's runs up the middle are going to be fun to watch for the next few years; kid is tough to bring down.
6. This was the best tacking game our defense has had all season.
7. Nice to see Sneed have a game for himself, hopefully this can boost his confidence for the rest of the season.
8. Dear opposing offenses if you leave KVA unblocked your QB is going to get hit like Horvath did, don't agree with the call, & I loved Freeman getting pissed on the sidelines.
9. A very undisciplined Navy team yesterday and our defense capitalized.
10. This rivalry is still fun to watch; thanks to all who have served our country. Respect. Honor. Tradition.

Love and Hate this statement at the same time!! It will take everything MFMF has to keep him one more year - if not, I would understand the kid's decision. But one can hope!

Like DillonHall just said Love is only sophomore. What Love is doing this year with the OL we have is impressive; the OL next year should be much improved.

Sorry to be that guy but I do have one complaint: RL needs to improve his decision making and processing.

If you rewatch the game for any reason, there was a play on the 1st quarter that shows he's making the wrong reads on RPO plays - or not given the trust to make a read at all.

He had J Love crossing from his left to his right and pulled the ball to look downfield to one of the receivers who was covered, so he didn't throw the ball (good!)

However when he took off and ran right he had 30 yards of open space and picked up a big gain before a shoestring table (also good!)

But his lead blocker was Jeremiah Love meaning he could have taken the handoff and run those 30+ yards and probably score a touchdown with his speed. If RL recognized that at the snap it would have been the better outcome even though it will show up as a positive play on the stat sheet.

Overall, there's definitely improvement but I think there's still so much ND is leaving on the table.
I get that but I see all too often he is making the wrong read by NOT keeping the ball.

With the snaps being spread around it feels like Price is starting to be the odd man out. Not sure why we have any snaps with Ford in the backfield. Loyalty snaps I guess and he’s probably one of our better blockers. Love has turned into a fullback level blocker and seems to take great pride in his blocking a la Tommy Tremble.

Would like to see us run more split back and I formation double TE sets. We have so many RBs. Ford would probably be decent if he was RB1 and the rest would all be great. Kedron Young will be badass! I hope we can hold this group together for next year.

This is something I’ve been wanted for a couple of weeks and they are starting to run these sets more. We split Raridon out wide for a slant against GT and this week we split Love out for the screen that got blown up.

I’m hoping and thinking Denbrock is setting up some bigger plays out of these looks. Fake screen to love and go route is an obvious one.

I want to see a little zone read, speed option off the two back sets. Opens up a ton of problems for the defense especially once you start leaking the lead back out of the backfield for play action.

I don't remember very many punts, but the two I remember both seemed to have good distance and both were muffed. Was this the first time we've seen the unique punts by Rendell that are supposed to be difficult to catch? I remember hearing something about this before the season, but I hadn't seen it yet.

I thought the linebackers played excellent and stood out...especially Kiser, KVA and Sneed. Receivers seemed to get good separation today, running backs ran hard through contact and Leonard made good reads.

Offense played great all around and didn't turn the ball over and the defense forced 6 turnovers. The final score makes it difficult to complain about anything today. I do wonder how different this post-game thread would be if Navy doesn't uncharacteristically turn the ball over 6 times. I think we'd be talking about a very close game. But I'll take the comfortable win and it seems like we didn't lose any key players...which is GREAT.

Let's go smash FSU next week!!!

Bye next week. We play FSU the following weekend

Anyone know what’s up with Onye? I didn’t see him playing. We aren’t playing for two weeks but would be nice to get him back and hungry.

He’s suspended. Nobody knows when or if he’ll be back.

It was a bad call in real time and on replay you see how KVA was basically blocked into the QB, who still had the ball in his hand when they made contact, and then KVA even took a lot of the weight of the fall on his own forearm. It's not like he drove Horvath into the ground there. Terrible call. Good thing it wasn't a closer game and that fumble would've mattered.
Yeah I didn’t have a problem with how they described it. Actually thought it was good to call out the refs for blowing that one.

For those asking, Bryce Young played three snaps. Jr. and Burnham took the lions share of time at DE. Probably for run D and experience' sake.

Also, a hearty welcome to walk-on DL Kobi Onyiuke!!

So Mukam only played 2 snaps and got injured on one of them?! Any word on the extent of his injury?

Walk-on defensive lineman at ND is really impressive. Not a position everyone can break through, impressive academics to get in to the school, keep the size, and work your way onto the field. Maybe the most impressive walk-on position for ND in my opinion. That and offensive line of course for the same reason.

Down 14-0 to #25 Tulane. Horvath was injured early on, this team isn't the same without him. The radio announcers mentioned that he was banged up during the ND game and struggled against Rice as a result.

We have had rough physical teams in the past which paradoxically didn't do ourselves future favors, since we hurt the opposition, and they then tanked a few games before healing, if at all. I don't think there's much doubt that we ruined Navy. Sometimes football experts need to take this roughneck factor into account when they talk about strength of schedule.
