Navy 2020 game moved to Dublin?

Lot of rumors flying around Dublin, Ireland that this game is being played in Ireland and it will be announced next week. will be a massive event if it does. Any truth to this?

Nope. Away game in 2018, home game in 2019, then away in 2020.

Edit: Misread your post. Correct that it's a 2020 home game for Navy.

If it is the opener maybe we can try to get it scheduled as a week 0 game. I don't know exactly the rules on it, but I'm pretty sure Stanford got a week 0 game and week 1 bye when they played in Australia a couple years ago.

Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar meant to announce it this week. He was minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport back in 2012 when ND and Navy last played in Dublin so he knows the gig.

An Taoiseach Leo Varadkar was present at the Aviva Stadium this afternoon to announce a five-game series which will bring teams across the Atlantic to play at the venue.

The Aer Lingus College Football Classic, which last involved Boston College and Georgia Tech in September 2016, will kick off with Navy-Notre Dame on 29 August 2020. The four additional fixtures are yet to be confirmed, but they will take place by the end of 2024.
