New commitment? Not so fast

Payton Roberts of Edmond (Okla.) Memorial High School tweeted late last night that, "I am officially committing to play my college football at The University of Texas".
But there's only one problem. Roberts, a kicker in the class of 2015, has no scholarship offer from the Horns. Perhaps Roberts will attempt to walk-on at Texas, but he is not considered a "commitment" for the football program.
Attempts to contact Roberts for comment have been unsuccessful.

Then again, maybe Strong should just take his commitment since someone finally wants in.

Bama offered Brandon Wimbush today. If we never ended up getting Barnett he would have been the QB I would have wanted to go after. PSU was the assumed school to beat maybe this throws a wrench in it.

I saw an article where Stanford was trying to make a push for him and I thought to myself. Nooooooooooo! He's good.

PSU commit Brandon Wimbush camped at Stanford and Stanford offered. Penn State fans are trying to convince themselves that there is nothing to worry about. But as one PSU poster stated:

"I'm sure he traveled 2500 miles to Stanford on HIS OWN DIME just so he could "get a nice offer", there was a reason he was there."

I wonder if he would be open to ND?

Amazing that Ky has pulled 8 of the top 50 players in Ohio the last two years.

Kentucky is stock-piling enough talent to be competitive, I believe. Now, if Stoops can get a QB in place, they could hit an upswing. I think Towles deserves a shot after a decent start as a true freshman in 2012, but he hasn't been given a fair shake since then. He did well in spring ball by all accounts, but I think they're going to end up being "Barker or bust" when the season roles around.

Agree. I think P. Towles has played well enough to be in the conversation. But, like you, I think Barker gets the nod in the end. Long term I think Barker is the man but if Towles continues to improve like he has this offseason, he may very well challenge for the job.
