Why! Why!? I was happy to root for him in his post-Suns career, but a division rival? The Lakers?

Sigh.

No! This is terrible. Where is Ja Rule? I need someone to make sense of all this.

Sweet. Steep price, but LA needs someone like him running the point.

So awesome. I get to root for my favorite non-Laker now on my own team. We haven't had a pg in like a decade, so this soooo friggin huge. of course, this won't put us past OKC, but it puts us in the conversation again...

**** yes!

That's 3 triple doubles on a team and I'm not even talking about Kobe Bryant.

Nash is my all-time favorite player. I desperately want to see him win a ring before he retires, but not as a Laker...

I hate you so much, Sarver.

It doesn't change anything, they are still the 3rd or 4th best team in the west.

Nash isn't the PG he used to be. He's a liability on defense. He will still make them better, but I wouldn't set my expectations too high. What I can't belive is how much the Lakers gave up to get him. If he was still in his early 30's okay, but not at this stage of his career.

When was the last time the Lakers had a pg that WASN"T a liability on defense? This is nothing new.

I cant believe they gave up 2 #1's and 2 #2's to get him. This move as is, doesnt really elevate them in the west, but it does make them a different team. If this were years past, i would say that the Lakers are not done with free agency, but with Jim Buss running the show, I dont have the confidence in the lakers front office as I once did. Now if they drop blabbermouth, damaged goods, busted-up knees Bynum for Howard, then it would make the Lakers a better team. At least for Kobe's final run.

He's always been a liability on defense. Nothing's new there at all. Good thing is he'll have two 7 footers behind him that will hopefully be motivated to play better defense b/c they will be touching the ball more.

As for giving up too much...I can see that. But really, they pick in the high 20's every year, and most of those guys don't pan out unless they are drafted by Jerry West or a San Antonio GM. So we lose the risk of drafting a Derrick Fisher but most likely we'd drafting a stiff or a project anyways. And the 2nd rounders? Meh. No biggie at all.

So I'm good with what we gave up...as long as we stay competitive.

Lakers haven't had a 1st round pick since 07 (I believe that was part of a LA Times article today) and yet have won 2 titles . My first inclination was that they gave up a ton, but they got one helluva QB for this O. Don't worry about Jim Buss, Mitch will continue to line up these moves. With or without Howard, this team is better than it was. If a Bynum for Howard trade happens, so be it, if not, no worries. Grant Hill may be next. By the way, Nash has led the league in assists for each of the last 2 or 3 years. He's still really good.

With Nash, do they keep Gasol?

Nash changes the dynamics on the court considerably.

The only thing I have in regards to Gasol is that the Wolves and the Rockets have interest. The Wolves may be willing to give up last years pick in Derrick Williams and a draft pick. The biggest thing with Gasol is he is due 34 million of the next two years, quite a lot for a team already above the luxury tax.

Looks like Jason Kidd spurned Dallas and signed with the Knicks.
