Just been busy since May. Even missed Joshua Tree last night in Glendale. People were getting in for $20. Guess, AZ folk in the U2 demo don't care much for Bono telling them their business.

And btw, there wasn't anything wrong with INXS

<iframe width="580" height="350" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/26ELh7P2ZtA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The first thing Bono says at the concert in New Orleans last week is, "Tonight we aren't left or right, red or blue, tonight we are ONE and it is going to be epic!" And so it was!!

I listened through my entire swervedriver discography today. Highly underrated band IMO.

WAAAAAY underrated.

They were just in your neck of the woods last week. They are playing down in Tucson tomorrow, trying to get mama to go down and catch it. I wanna see what all the cool kids from '91 look like now. First dude with a beard, skinny jeans and a beer gut is getting served, unless he's got worn out black Chucks... then he lives to fail another day.

Who knows, maybe they'll let me stand in on Son of Mustang Ford. Bet I could still crush it.

Makes me wish i could get decked out in my Stussy and WRV gear again, skip high school classes on friday and go on a road trip to Va Beach for some fresh waves.

That show kicked ass.... best show I’ve been to. We were maybe twenty feet from front and center,... great music.

Don't skip the opener, Dragondeer I think they were called,.... they were great too... way better than expected.

They aren't opening for JJ in Tempe. They are heading to Telluride from Flagstaff while JJ comes back down to the Valley for a cash grab at the Marquee. He then follows them up to Telluride for the Blues & Brews Fest, which we had planned on attending but I've got a totally jacked up schedule this week with a new project I just started and now the clients are threatening to fly in Wed or Thur, which with my luck will be Thur and that means dinner and no show for Crusader.

As far as Dragondeer, pretty sure I posted their stuff in the What you listening to? thread. Very good band, good vocals and the guy on the electric Mandolin shreds. Look them up on Youtube, they did the Lagunitas Jam in the Van series which has a ton of good UTR acts

It’s fair to note: I’m a huge fan, we were right up front and my previous concert experience is pretty limited compared to others (Aerosmith, Clapton, Kravitz, Gin Blooms, 3Dog Night, few other smaller ones) but that was the best show I’ve been to. Cant wait for him to come back out. Should have taken my girls too... it’s was family friendly enough and there were a dozen or so kids roaming around.

Sound quality isn't too great here and fails to do the show justice but still,... I was right in the front on the far left of the stage... great stuff.

I knew the Lagunitas Jam Van well simply because of JJ Grey... lol. I will say this, they (Dragondeer) have a totally different vibe and look now than they did then... far different. Sound is basically the same now though.

1. Never get into a land war in Asia.
2. Never go after Eminem with a diss track.

Don't know if Crusader shared this already somewhere but it's worth sharing... pretty good stuff here:

Wait until the very end, that portion is NSFW but pretty funny.

"Rains in Africa".

Can someone tell me why this song is so wildly popular?

You mean Africa by Toto?? It's not the greatest song but considering what hits the pop charts in 2018 if THAT is your musical popularity curiosity then I don't know what to tell you really....

I could be wrong but I believe Weezer recently did a remake, and now it's all over the radio and people act like it's the words of God coming through the speakers.

Yeah I heard that a few weeks ago now that you mention it.... wasn't a fan myself. The OG song isn't that bad tho, I enjoy it well enough. I think it became a thing again when South Park used it as the archetype for an 80s nostalgia song in their ''member berries' skit a couple years back.

I'll still take songs like that over what's considered music today... I tune into modern pop/rock/hip hop radio every now and then and just shake my head, no singing, very minimal electrically created music (if one can all it that)... all image, no substance or soul to it, just 'empty' I think is a good word for it.... that's just my take. Pop music has been on a never ending spiral since the late 60's when everything seemed to have hit a high note of creativity and talent and it's just completely bottoming out in recent years. I just can't with what's put out now.... just me.

J Mascis's new album is gonna be pretty good. I've been listening to a lot of his stuff (solo and Dinosaur Jr) recently.

It's also disproprotionately popular among Notre Dame alumni. "Africa," along with Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You" are ND party staples.

The song is also awesome as shit.

Let me just give Coach BK a shout out and suggest Springsteen's "Born To Run" album.

I'm currently listening to Paul Pena myself.
