that nebraska game a few years back(10years??)...cant remember the year..I thought ND had zero chance of even making that game respectable. Didnt they lose in OT, or lose on that last drive after coming back? I try to forget painful losses.

Yeah I forgot about that it was the 2000 game #1 vs #25 the "southbend invasion game" (very sad sight on television that day) it was the game J.Jones an J.Getherall had a kick off an punt return for TDs. ND took the lead with a field goal in OT then we gave up a 3rd an long pass to the TE that would have otherwise forced them to kick a tying FG. Like you say to have not been given a chance an come that close was terrible. God I hope BK turns things around!

Where can I begin? Staying in the recent past, besides the obvious BushPush game, last year's Michigan game killed me. I felt friggin' violated by the refs. I'm not an excuses guy, but damn, the refs were atrociously bad that game. Allen's TD taken back, Rudolph's 72 yard run taken back by a pancake block, errrrrr, 'holding', Allen getting flagged 15 yds for pointing to the sky, thus giving Mich great field position, etc etc etc. Ugh. Damn I felt low.

Also the Navy game last year. I was about to coach a play-off game and I couldn't concentrate. My asst coach was trying to get me to concentrate, but I was in another world. More shocked/saddened than pissed. I knew that it was the end for CW and that we'd be starting all over (again).

But I love the Kelly hire, so......

2009 vs. Stanford... The last game we played... To have such a potent offense play so well and not be able to stop Stanford was hard for me to watch, especially when a virtually guaranteed bowl game was on the line.

Speaking of bowl games, both BCS bowls that we lost were hard to take just because they were such big games.

Also Syracuse in 2008. Just losing to that bad of a team was awful. Not to mention I was at the game and sat in a foot of snow for three hours to watch the Irish lose.

We did get invited to a Bowl Game but the players voted not to play due to the Weis firing. But I hear ya, it still sucks to lose to an inferior opponent. With the talent on this team, they shoulda been at least a 9 win team. But of course shoulda, coulda, woulda means nothing if you dont produce.

This is true, but do you think the players would still refuse a bowl game had the Stanford game fallen our way?? Maybe thats an entirely new topic...

I forgot how terrible this was to watch. One of my friends' family will never look at me the same after how i screamed at the tv that day. Losing Floyd late in that game was no fun either...

living in ohio mine recently would be the fiesta bowl loss to ohio state

Yeah that loss really sucked cuz ND didn't play even close to their potential an was still in it mid way through the 4th. Living in the south I hated the blowout to LSU in '06 a bit more because I had to hear more crap about not being able to play with the SEC but that's another story.(thank God we beat TN in '04 &'05 though)

there was a game in the 90's at tennesee. I might be off with my numbers, but I know its really close. ND was kicking Tennesse arse up and down the field in the first half. I think it was 35-0 just before half. ND punts and Tenn runs it back as time runs out in the first half, 35-7.....ND then got smoked in the 2nd half.

ND lost, I think the score was 35-38.

i still remember the sight of that hated checkerboarded endzone

I would say '06 loss to Michigan was the worst in the last decade for me. Such high expectations and to really get our asses kicked was rough. Last year vs. UM was bad too. It was bad that the ref's sucked but even worse that we couldn't just blow out an average Wolverine team.
93 to Florida State was tough to swallow as Junior High kid. And I remember me and my little brother jumping up and down as Rocket took that kick back in the Orange Bowl against Colorado. I think we were in denial for at least a week about ND losing that game.

That game cost me. I was in NY for the 50th anniversary of an aunt and uncle. One of my cousins is married to an obnoxious and pompous ass – a Volunteer alum. (Gotta give him his due as "family," but I don't gotta like him.) We put 5 bucks on the game before the game started. Early in the 3rd quarter we bumped into each other at the bar while checking on the game. ND was still (seemingly) in control so I gladly accepted his offer to up the stakes to 10 bucks. It's a good thing that I was enjoying the hell out of being with family ('twas delightful, indeed, to hear that enchanting Irish lilt among some of the elders in my clan) and drunk as a skunk when the game ended. I've never parted with a sawbuck more bitterly and angrily.

We have done this thread like fives times before... but oh well...

-93 BC ended my childhood forever... still living with that one
-90 Orange Bowl where rocket's return was called back (Dad is a buffs fan and that made --that one epic enough)
-Bush Push
-I would add last year's Michigan game to that list for me... it felt just as bad... and really it ended any hope I had about Weis and his tenure at ND... something in me just snapped when they socred on that last drive... I have not been the same fan since...

1. 1970 loss at SC. We were undefeated, and ranked #2. Theisman threw for 525 in a downpour, but we lost 38-28-then snapped #1 Texas' winning streak in the Cotton Bowl. We finished #2.

2. 1993 loss to BC

3. Orange Bowl loss to Colorado

DITTO! I watched the '70 USC game on TV with a fellow classmate while we were home on Thanksgiving break. What a downer.

Yeah that game made me sick. Even though there was still hope for the season you just knew it was going to be a struggle to win games and it was.

I think it was the SC game last year that I knew Weis was done. I actually held on hope that long.
