Very confused why people need to make every incident into some sweeping generalization about a university, coach, culture, etc.

Four players are alleged to have committed some pretty bad crimes, three seem to have confessed, another seems to be going with 'wrong place, wrong time'... and all are suspended while the facts are coming out.

So, in this one instance, what exactly could 'Bama do better/differently? I can't think of anything. Right now... they're doing everything by the book. Now... if Alabama didn't suspend them or didn't kick them out of school if the allegations are true... then that is something to get up in arms about. But right now? I just don't really get the outrage.

Or if they go to prison/jail and get out and get a spot on the team and someone subsequently loses a scholarship.... Oh wait, wrong school.

You're spot on. It's not everyone, though. Just a select few with an agenda and some anger.

I actually think you make a lot of sense in this particular "argument."

However, I just can't understand why you are here in the first place. Championship game is over. You brought some good perspective to the board but now what's the point in getting into it with other regular posters? Maybe we will see you again next December.

Not going to look to see if this was posted already or not. You guys are giving Bama a bunch of crap for over signing. They aren't over signing. They just know not all the recruits will be there come football time. :eek:grin:

I've just enjoyed talking football with several of your posters. Most are knowledgeable and bring good stuff to the table on a wide range of subjects. I've gotten to know a few and exchanged several PM's. You're like any forum: you have a small number of homers and a few who could earn a living as a cadaver at a proctology school, but most seem to be good guys. It's good to sometimes just get away from all the homers and rah rah stuff on the Bama boards and get a different perspective. I thought an outsider's perspective might be of value here also. I've tried to be very respectful of ND as I'd hope a visitor would be of my team on our boards, but if my presence really bothers you here, say so and I'll be glad to leave.

I don't care if you stay or leave. I just don't think you should get upset when people on an ND board criticize you, regardless of whether you are right or wrong.

Someone can criticize me all they want - there are plenty of valid reasons to do so. If you want to criticize Bama, the SEC, or the South, I can give you plenty of valid reasons to do that too. My issue is when the criticism is dishonest, unfair, and based on ignorance, prejudice, hatred, wilfull distortion of the truth, or just a desire to smear regardless of whether it's justified or not. I have the same reaction any of you would have if someone did the same to ND or anything else you cared about.

I'm originally from Alabama. Went to Bama in the late 70's & early 80's. Moved to S. Dakota a few years ago when I met my 2nd wife. She grew up all over the US and even spent a few years in England and S. Africa, so she's not really from here either. She's a division chief with one of the national parks here in the Black Hills and this is just her current assignment. We may stay here forever (we both love it here), but if she wants to move on up the ladder, we'll probably end up moving to AZ, UT, or CO in the next couple of years. Yeah, there aren't many Bama fans out here, but I run into a few. What part of the state are you from? Probably not many ND fans here either, are there?

If he really modified his contract knowing he was going to file for Bankruptcy then that salary is as good as gone -- bankruptcy won't protect him no mo.

Honestly, I couldn't care less. This is Alabama's problem. The higher academic standards tend to eliminate dumb-a$$es like this from Notre Dame. But in all honesty, Alabama is far better than many programs regarding this kind of incident and I do believe it is because Saban runs a pretty tight ship. But when you take in so many borderine types, this is going to happen now and then regardless of the internal discipline.

To me it is another reason to be proud of Notre Dame.

True enough. When you sign 50 guys every year, a few are going to be bad apples....

Why on OUR board are we debating any of this with THEIR fans.. GTFO. We have student athletes, the SEC seems to be more dominant in criminal athletes. I'm fairly confident that our percentage of student athletes that don't graduate is far less than the percentage of your athletes who are arrested while enrolled. The few SEC fans who chose to post on our board seem smart, I assume you post here because most of the posters on your boards can't seem to form a sentence. Either way, what was done was wrong and inexcusable. And these 4 arrests are just another 4 added to the continually growing long history in the conference.

And I certainly think you have some valid points there. However, until the incident this week, Bama hasn't had any serious issues with players getting into trouble in almost 5 years. That's been my basic point in all of this: since shortly after his first season when Saban got rid of the problem players he'd inherited, we've had no serious incidents and only a small handful of minor ones until this week.

Not to open up another can of worms or start a fight, but during that time, ND's football team has had more total arrests and more arrests for serious crimes than we have until this week. And both schools are doing better than most other programs. Unfortunately, it happens everywhere.

Interesting claim. Why don't you do a quick Google search and see if that's really the case, or see which football program has had the most players arrested in the last few years, Bama or ND. It's one thing to make wild claims and loosely toss out insults. It's another to deal in facts and back them up. And you're right. I post here because no Bama fan I know is able to read & write or form a sentence. Bless you for helping. Really, I can't thank you enough for taking pity on us po lil illiterate, sister-lovin', no shoe wearin cretins! lol

I'm from the eastern part of the state by Sioux Falls. The Black Hills are beautiful and I have family and friends that live out there. We visit alot, usually Deadwood or Spearfish and we hunt deer around Hill City every year. As far as ND fans go, I find there are alot of casual fans but not many die hards. There is a heavy population of Catholics around here and I think most of them cheer casually for ND. With the good season we had this year it has been crazy the amount of ND gear you see people wearing, and old school ND gear on top of it.

Casual fans count too! Not as much but better to have them than not. The old school gear is very cool.

Come hunt deer out here more often. We're overrun with them! We have a few hundred white tails right in town. They walk up and down the streets and sleep in your yard.

Lol. I could be wrong but didn't you have 4 in the last few days alone. I don't believe we've had 4 the last few years. And if insults to your program are an issue, feel free to leave. After all, this is an ND board. Not Bama.

Why would you want to make up something just to insult someone or something if it isn't true? That doesn't seem to be in line what what you guys claim about ethics and integrity at ND. Personally, and this is just me, but whether we're in my house or your house or standing on a public street, that doesn't seem to have any bearing on whether something is true or not. I jes wuz thinkin that since all us bamer crakkers wuz plumb ignernt and all ans we kuddnt reed or rite yall wuld be kine enuff to luuk them thar fakts up fer me yuu uz talkin bout an hep us po unforunit illitrits out sum. thankee kindly lol
