Maybe I was looking for it because I am used to Hayden, but it did seem like he was pulling for Purdue when they were on the comeback trail... that got me rolling my eyes just the same... maybe it's just me.

Hammond's been dead for 7 years. He has to wear a lot of makeup. Seriously the guys a corpse.

Mayock was awesome. Actually talked some x's and o's, and he knows his shit. Huge improvement over Hayden.

he was always a smart analysis for NFL network but never really liked him. Thought he was great on commenatry and really knew what he was talking about. Wonder if i would like him as much if we lost?

Well, not to knock on Hayden, because I actually thought he was good, but Mayock seemed to bring so much to the table. And Hammond wears too much makeup, but he did a nice job too.

Mayock's a huge up grade. Honestly if we weren't ND fans we would have been rooting for Purdue to pull off the comeback (down 17 in the 4th-woulda been a big comeback for sure) so I don't blame him for that.

Well, not to knock on Hayden, because I actually thought he was good, but Mayock seemed to bring so much to the table. ...

Hayden was good given the circumstances. After the Safety, Mayock noted "we have a game again". You recognize what some ND fans refuse to. He's not there to be an ND homer. He's works for NBC, that's his job.

Mayock's an upgrade.

Now if they could just make the format a monologue.

But he did keep referring to "Ian Johnson", and "Ethan Williams". And Hammond can just go away; isn't it considered "Broadcasting 101", that you announce the name of the guy who makes the tackle more than once every 10 plays or so?

I thought that Maycock did a very fine job and that encourages me not to turn off the sound like I had to for several years. Also he actually has something to say of interest now and then. I'm praying that he keeps going exactly as he did. Also, this may just be BS, but I felt that his warm objectivity and willingness to praise our team when we deserved it, turned Hammond into something almost tolerable.

He made hammonds job easy. The thing that I liked is that he seemed to have a great passion and great knowledge for the game. When a kid made a great play he praised them. When someone made a mistake he slammed them(marve diving into the endzone). I like him. Great addition by NBC

I think its just that Mayock knows football and its obvious in his analysis. Hammond didnt wanna sound stupid. He just didnt talk much which is why he was tolerable

I think Mayock did a fantastic job. His knowledge of the game was outstanding and he was objective in his commentary. I'm thrilled with his addition.

Hammond looked like a tranny. When they first showed him, I almost died laughing.
