Holy shit a hit on the QB and a well covered out route?

This guy will win us 3 titles next year at ND!

I've gone from 'F this guy' to 'holy hell we're going to win 21 games next year' on the first 2 series of WF's bowl game.

ND fanship has officially F'd me. I have no ability to be emotionally grounded after the past 15 years.

Does anyone know if Phil Snow is calling the plays on D for Temple,or is he already at Baylor?

not a problem at UM or Bama where they have armies of coaches working as analysts. Some even more experienced than the on-field coaches they support.

It also helps when that coach is Saban and has multiple titles. Who's going to argue with him? Otherwise, not good dynamics IMO.

It's the 1st quarter, and I believe WF has 4 TFL's already. That's not normal.

This defense doesn't bite on the misdirection much either. It's crazy how well a team can prepare when they have time.

Is Temple's OC remaining next year when they have their new coach? Cause if so, Elko is coaching against his next opponent as well.

Halftime, Wake's defense gave up 7 points. I counted at least 6 TFL's, a tipped interception, and a strip sack that the offense recovered. At least 2 sacks.

Did not see a single missed tackle.

Wake looked amazing against the run.

I can't watch it right now at work. Are they running a 4-2-5?

I don't think so, Temple runs a pro formation and Wake almost always has 4 DBs on the field in a traditional CB, CB, S, S lineup.

As far as front 7, Wake has anywhere from 3-5 guys right on the LOS, and then the rest back as LBs.

Ok, so 3rd play of the 3rd quarter looked very BVG-esque.

A safety blitz that comes so late it's irrelevant and you may as well be just playing with 10 guys, 2 missed tackles, and the only remaining safety takes a dog shit angle to allow a huge TD play.

Solid read and looking forward to the next. I previously mentioned, in Pinnock's thread, in less detail, that he likes to use his S's to facilitate the run D. I believe a player like Fields, becomes quite attractive in this scheme.

Am I high or has Mike Elko done more recruiting in the past 9 days than BVG did in 3 Fn years? Every time I think about how long we held on to Longo and BVG I get dangerously angry.

Basically I agree. However, when BVG was first hired ND did the same thing then that they are doing now. ND went after some players that didn't fit the Diaco model and a lot of IE was pretty excited about the new offers going out and players verbally committing that had no interest in ND prior to BVG being hired. If I recall correctly BVG was fairly active that first recruiting cycle.

Now, I think Elko is going to sustain this current effort while BVG did not, but I will reserve judgement until his second recruiting cycle.

I spoke with my buddy who coaches at Snider HS here in Ft Wayne, and no, I don't have any information on Mac, however, I asked about Elko. He said we've got a phenomenal coach in Mike Elko. He's very personable, he's young, the kids who played for him at Wake love him!! I asked because he's got a DB down at Wake who played under Elko, and he's gotten to talk with Elko on more than a few occasions. My friend went down south last spring break, and him and some of the Snider coaches stopped by Wake for a few days, to see their former player and got to spend some time with the coaching staff. His only concern was BK not allowing him to coach his way. I told him I didn't think that would be much of a problem, but who knows. Anyway, just wanted to pass along what my friend relayed to me about Mike Elko.

My cousin played SS for Coach Elko at Fordham, was a captain his senior year, nothing but positives about him as a person and a coach. He was in the first class they recruited when they got to Fordham. Went to see him and Coach Clawson at Wake when he was in North Carolina on business, and said they picked up right where they left off in New York. He also thinks we made a home run hire.

I still remember listening to the ISD podcast after the BVG hire. Sean Mele had played for BVG and was gushing about how all the players loved him and how great of a hire it was.

Just saying...

I do think it's fair to say, that fans are usually optimistic about change. I get it. However I do think this is quite a bit different in that, BVG did not have a lot of collegiate succes in the years leading up to his hiring. In fact it had been roughly a decade, depending on opinion. Elko just did, with substantially less "talent". Check up on out the ratings, and then stats, for Marqul Lee MLB and Duke WDE. I'd say that's pretty good in the ACC.

However, it won't surpise me if we have some hiccups, and people will feel the need to overreact.
