After watching 4 games, you can see that some changes in the line-up are likely or atleast should be.
1. PUNTER - Maust is plain and simply not getting it done. He almost cost us a TD runback at Purdue because his punt was so short the coverage overran the ball. Further, he is not helping on the field position. Time to see Turk.
2. LB - I am a big fan of Toryan because I believe he gives good effort, but his speed and lack of mobility are becoming a liability. You can see that defenses are now picking on him during passing downs. It is now time for Teo to step in to his annointed role. He has now had 4 weeks to learn and his upside is worth the mistakes he will make.
3. WR - With Floyd out for regular season, we need to take a hard look at Goody and Deion. I think Parris is a great team player and a veteran, but he does not put a drop of fear in a defense. Sorry, but he does not possess great speed, size or jumping ability. We need another THREAT! Not just a 3rd and 10 possession guy. I am hopeful that Deion or Goody with there speed or jumping ability can be one of those guys.
4. DE - Speed Rusher needed!! CW talked in the fall camp about the possibility of Filer and Fleming being on each end for passing downs. Sounded great to me. I have yet to see Filer get one snap in this concept. We sure as heck are not putting pressure on anyone currently, so why not give Filer a few game snaps?? The guy looks the physical part and runs well. Trust me, John Ryan is NOT ever going to strike fear in a OL. He is a smart guy, but his physical skills are just not there.
Overall, it is impressive that we are not talking major changes needed, but just some position tweeks.
