Priority visibility doesn't infringe on free speech. It's a freemium business model. Want better visibility? Then pay. I have no issue with it. Don't want to pay? You can still use the platform but your engagement will be lower.

I also don't have a problem with his tweet. Did it violate the TOS? No. Did he suppress the opposition? No. Is this manipulating voters? No. He tweeted from his personal account, so he can share his personal opinion. Don't like his opinion? You're free to feel that way.

Celebrities and well known personalities do it all the time and I never heard you complain before.

I do not believe he cares about the human rights activists. the dissidents, our users in un-monetizable regions, and all the other users who have made Twitter the global town square you have all spent so long building, and we all love.

Won't someone think of the little guy in Africa that doesn't have food to eat, but has the capability to use Twitter? Silly. I thought he did clean house rather fast. I would guess he retained the more critical engineers needed to keep the product moving, but working in software sometimes people most familiar with certain application functions get lost to the bottom line and things struggle for a bit. I think trimming the fat is a good thing though, these kinds of companies often have too much bloat. Time will tell how they progress, but if I had to guess Twitter is going to wind up being more profitable now long term and should attract new advertisers to supplant any that were lost.

Him saying that he was going to outright suppress non-paying users is jokes because I agree with the basic premise of it just that many were shrieking about shadow bans and censorship have nothing to say about him admitting to doing it. At the end of the day it comes down to "source dude trust me" vs Elon saying he's going to do it. Advertisers not wanting to be part of 4chan-lite is also pretty jokes.

A freemium business model that prioritizes paying customers is not suppressing free speech. It doesn't suppress information based on content, and it doesn't target subsets of people. The ROE are clearly outlined. This isn't nearly the same as shadow banning or censorship.

You're correct on those points. Which is why pre-Elon following the TOS was also not shadow banning or censorship.

I mean, I saw someone with a verified badge as GWB saying they loved to bomb Iraqis. But my experience is just anecdotal so it really doesn't mean anything.

Anyhow, it was also interesting to see most major media outlets pick up on and start parroting GOP talking points leading up this this election and begin to use that as the basis to predict the now infamous “red wave”.

I mean even NPR was prattling on about “the possibility” that “we might” be headed for a recession. During this entire inflation discussion I have not heard the tax cuts under Trump mentioned at all as a possible contributing factor. Shit is pretty ridiculous.

Tax cuts + PPP loans = Good cuz trickle down economics is fail proof, I've been told many times on here that anything prior to Biden doesn't matter. Economic life cycles are two year periods.
