And let us be honest here, if the coaching staff is taking as much time as we are, on this QB topic, then ND is in trouble, there are way bigger fish we need to get, like any superstar RB, DB, DT, WR> I have said it numerous times, however great the high school Qb, he is not better than our college Qbs. (That means Gunner/Mauk are ND backups)

Who really knows what type of offense ND is going to run? I believe, they ran two different ones last season? What fits is BK to his players strengths.

Mauk (if he ever sees the field)will no way in hell throw the ball 40-50 times a games at ND, that is the most rudiculous thing I have ever heard. With the defense that is being "created", I think what fits is a ball control, big play offense, that can run the ball at will.

This is ND my man, not a big east gimmick offense, we have to have substance and balance, not flashy stats to get people in the stands.

I totally agree.... And that is another reason why I prefer Kiel. Mauk has zero experience running an offense with "experience and balance". All his experience been in a low read "flashy" offense.

Btw, Gunner is would be the highest rated recruit in our qb depth chart. So why would he not be a viable option over the other guys? Under your philosophy, qb's would never play until they are seniors. Do you assume that underclassmen never beat out upperclassmen?

Im sure he will be an option, but on the film I have seen, (including the ones you posted, thank you), Hendrix and Golson are as good, if not better.

What I am saying is Gunner, in my opinion, will not be attending ND, and our coaching staff probably figured that out, long ago. The key to winning at ND is not blue chip QBs, they are nice to have but not the key. They have the QBs in place for the team they have built, anything they add will be icing on the cake.

NOw everybody can go ahead and say what they will, Clausen, Quinn, Powlus, Mirer, they were players I loved but they did not win ****! It is damn cold in South Bend in Nov and Dec, and believe me when I say, it is alot easier to defend a passing offense in those conditions.

If you only want to read positive comments on any kid that blinks Notre Dame's way, then read Maty's regular thread, there is plenty of it there. Otherwise, get used to reading about Maty vs Kiel.... because that is what this thread is about.

Not for what happened 15 years ago... for what has been happening every year for over 15 years. Blindly following anything is no way to go through life.

To your second point, you dont like this thread. Ok, do you have anything else to add? No, then see ya on the flip side, because we have been discussing the differences between each of these players with meaningful debate. We have been evaluating measurables, highlight films and discussed where they would fit into the program. So... if you have nothing more to add other than:

1) You dont like this thread
2) You trust the staff on all things recruiting

Then you have made your point. The only times this thread has gone off the edge and became bickering, is when people start posting stuff like this. If you dont have anything to add other than your opinion of "this thread sucks", then go back to posting in Mauk's regular thread. Thats why the mods seperated them. Thanks for your valuable contributions.

Listen, we are just going to keep going back and forth. I will continue to argue the merit of Kiel over Mauk on this thread. If you want to argue that you just want whoever wants to be here... then that is a valid argument and I respect your opinion. But I am not gonna keep flooding a good thread with useless bickering. There are people that want to debate this topic in a respectful and educated manner, so we should stop bitching at eachother and let that conversation resume. Deal?
