Andrew Luck: check.

Matt Barkley: Looks more and more like a check (based more off recent comments about the quarterbacks on their roster than filing for an evaluation).

Now paging Mr. Landry Jones... presently #6 on Mel's Big Board.

Anyone have a beat on Landry's decision?

2012 looks a whole lot easier with those 3 gone..

He won't go first, but I'm willing to bet there will be some debate surrounding the first pick, ala Leaf vs Manning.

yup.

who else really needs him? jacksonville. washington. maybe oakland. maybe seattle? im sure pete carrol would take him, huh?

Carson is a good fit for Oakland. Wouldn't think that would be a high priority for the Raiders.

Washington and Jacksonville seem most likely IMO.

Edit: Washington and Jacksonville = LOL!

Jacksonville just took Gabbert this past year though it would be intriguing if they decide to move to L.A...

Miami, Seattle, and Washington are all feasible. Denver as well if they ever lose again.

grooming the next one. palmer is not very impressive and hasnt been for awhile now.

As a Bengals fan I agree with this, however Palmer has played pretty well for a guy who was on his couch. He is 3-1 as a starter this season, winning his last 3 starts. He still has plenty of good football left. I don't care for the guy much but saying that he hasn't been impressive is not true. The second part about not being productive in the past couple of years is definitely true though. Not to mention some of his best weapons have been out. McFadden hasn't been playing, Jacoby Ford has been out.

They beat Chicago with Marcel Reese being their leading receiver, he is their fullback. Chaz Shillens was the go to receiver. Once he has his weapons he will be fine. He will still always throw those pick 6's and probably will never meet #1 overall expectations but he will be a good player for I'd say the next 4-6 years.

Barkley is the real deal... arguably as good as Luck. Top 3 pick for sure. Kalil from USC should be a top 5 pick as well.

let me rephrase--i'm not impressed. but, i stand by that he maybe has had 1 impressive-ish game this year.

i dont buy the "on the couch" aspect. from a former #1 and a guy that wasn't just sitting around waiting for a job. he wasnt out of the game for all that long.

does he have 4-6 years? maybe 1 more as a starter and you bring in someone to take the reigns.

Teams that should seriously be considering taking Barkley (and have a chance to pick high enough to get him):

Miami
Kansas City
Cleveland
Washington
Seattle

I left off Indy assuming they take Luck #1, and feel Jacksonville, Minnesota, Arizona, and Carolina all would look elsewhere since they got a new QB last year.

I might have to cheer for this guy if the Fins pick him. We've been waiting for "the guy" since Marino retired.

Does filing the paper work mean he is going, or just possibly checking his draft status.

EDIT: thats what I thought. He is examining all the options and everyone does it. Does not mean he is gone.

Checking draft status. He gone, though. Same with Kalil. Guaranteed top 5 picks.

Listening to him talk, though, you have to wonder about his decision. He talks about how he wants that "USC" experience...win the conference, go to the Rose Bowl, compete for a National Championship. I don't think that this is a done deal (much as I would like to see him go). I would lean on him coming back. They are LOADED next season (20/22 starters back I heard), and though not deep, they could make a serious run at the BCSNGC.
