12.5 is to much for him.

I also heard an interview with Mack Brown that said to many team are wasting money on buys out that could be NIL money. He suspects that salaries will go up a lot and buy outs will go away.

I am not so sure about that.

Front loading a contract with no buyout is an interesting concept. $20 mil/year x 5. Something like that. I wonder if some people would jump at the extra cash up front.

The AD's would all need to collude tho to make it standard across the industry.

This is what UF did last year. They were going to fire Billy and had the money gathered, but decided to pour it into NIL and ended up with a great recruiting class (considering their recent history) and retained a lot of their good talent (Lagway, Baugh, etc). Didn't work out, some guys just can't coach.

It's still wild to me that anybody can be bad at their job and then they can be paid tens of millions of dollars to be fired. I can't believe I'm saying this, but maybe Mack is right. It's what SHOULD happen, if guys are worried about job security then the contracts should be front loaded to avoid paying a big buyout...but yeah I'm not sure people are going to agree to that.

If every time a new job opens ND has to give Freeman an extension and or raise, I'm not sure that's going to be entirely smart on their part. There are three sitting college football head coaches who have won National Championships and guys who haven't even won 40 games yet are getting more money and security. Pump the friggin breaks for a second. I like Coach Free as much as anyone. Maybe not as much as @GrangerIrish24

....but let's finish out the season and see what shakes loose. The actions of these other programs doesn't warrant immediate reaction. He's reportedly already said no to Florida and Penn State. Coach Free also doesn't strike me as the type that's going to leverage all of what is happening for pay raises.

Rhule, who has won 18 games at Nebraska, has gotten a raise to $12.5 million. It's time to dig in and make Marcus the highest paid head coach in college football and make a commitment to the long term success of this program

I’m FAIRLY certain Rhule signed an extension with Baylor right before bolting. Even extensions don’t lock someone down.

I'm sure he'll get some sort of raise or extension, or if he doesn't maybe it's because last year's was substantial enough that it covers this year too. I know there are reports as to Freeman's contract details, but we don't actually know right? From what I recall it was sort of speculation.

Freeman appreciates what he has with ND and ND apprecaites what they have with Freeman.

If we have a situation like ND had with Link Jarrett with Freeman's alma mater or the NFL calling there is reason to worry.

If any other school comes calling for ND, I think ND would be smart enough to keep him here.

Kelly couldn't handle all the pressure that comes with being the head coach at ND; Freeman has handled the pressure in a professional way.

Gotta think he’s scared shitless of having a Giuliani-esque hair paint drip with the way he grabs a hat when it rains lol. Gotta protect the Mr Perfect brand.

I don’t think so. It’s very common in the black community to enhance a front hairline with spray and cut with a straight edge.
There are a ton of you tube shorts on people traveling hundreds of miles and paying hundreds of dollars to go to the best barbers.

Who wants to be rained on for four hours?

Coach Free is already appearing in some click baity articles as a candidate for the NY Giants job.

Suffice to say, his name is going to come up more often than not for NFL openings or big college job openings. Just coming to accept it now and will quickly move on.

If he wants the NFL, good on him and college won't hold him forever, but man I hope he uses some better discretion than that. The Harbaugh to Chargers model should be his template. Wait for a job with a franchise QB or at least one who is plausibly a franchise QB. I actually like Jaxon Dart but that kid is not going to last with the way he plays.

If he wins one in the next 2 years, does he follow CJ?

I think MF stays as long as ND keeps the NIL money flowing. They have a history of tightening the purse strings for petty reasons

Agreed. I don't see him going to the NFL just yet, but who the hell knows anymore.
