Pretty sure the bump in pay would outweigh the burden of Indiana’s state income tax.
Does Lea aspire to coach in the playoffs? Win more than eight games ever? If so, it’s a pretty easy call.

All this conversation ends pretty quick though if they do the right thing and extend Freeman.
Would Notre Dame pay more? Who knows what he’s making, but it’s about to be more, and Vanderbilt is on par with Notre Dame financially.

I agree with your Statement concerning playoff aspirations. I honestly believe That Vanderbilt is likely the toughest job in the country. That said, he is in Nashville, native and Vanderbilt alum that’s done tremendous things so far. It would be difficult for anyone To pry him away in my opinion.

I'm getting the feeling people here would like ND to offer Marcus an extension.... Could be wrong.

Hypothetical, since that’s all we have:

Option A) OSU flames out in playoffs, fires Day, poaches Freeman AFTER ND wins it all, ND’s foundation crumbles under new coach, endless re-build begins.

Option B) OSU wins it all, ND locks up Freeman for a decade after losing a close game in the semi-finals or finals, recruiting goes into overdrive, gap narrows considerably between ND and the football factories, people can feel a title coming.

Which do you choose?

A easily. Titles last forever. B doesn’t guarantee one

Great question.

Hopefully it's one that we don't need to actually answer and MF wins us the natty this year and then several more.

That being said...

Gun to head, I am taking option A in your hypothetical.

Give me the title. Nothing's guaranteed in football.

Under Option B we might win one or we might not.

I have only the slightest memory of the last title. God willing, I've got 4 more decades and you think with option B that one would come soon. But, who would have thought that we'd be almost 40 years without one now?

A, 100%. With the way CFB is evolving, take what you can get now. I’m not sure it will be watchable in 10 years.

Michigan and OSU winning titles back to back would be too much for me to stomach.

Hit it band. Play the damned fight song. Let's party like it's 1988.

Option A, easily. Unless you’re a SEC school, titles have been extremely hard to come by in the past 25 years or so. Take the guaranteed thing.

Option B is somewhat reminiscent of BK — you’re doing well, you’re winning games, you’re on the cusp, you’re feeling “a title coming”, but you may never get over the hump.

I don’t want to be the 1990’s Buffalo Bills — give me the title.

I’m a Notre Dame fan that also roots for Cincinnati sports, and I was born in ‘90…

I’ll take a championship, any championship, please.

Just one championship and I could not care less about the results of at least the next six seasons.

I am starved for a title between the Irish, Bearcats, Bengals, and Reds.

It’s fucking hard out here, fellas.

B... sounds like I just have a wait one or two years for the inevitable championship. Plus we get to keep Freeman.

I was you for a long time, but eventually all of my teams got over the hump (except the Jets).

Notre Dame, White Sox, Blackhawks, NY Jets.

I’d prefer consistency over a comet. Give me option C: win it all now and keep MF.

How did the Jets sneak in there?

A. Give me the title. Yeah we might get one in 5 years, but the odds of me dying randomly between now and 2030 are much higher than me dying randomly in the next 50 days.

Very poor choice made by a stupid kid (me) in the early 80’s.
It had to do with my favorite color (green) and an Irish named quarterback: Kenny O’Brien.
Well, misery loves company so i'll be here to support you. Mets, Jets, Knicks here... i have never seen a championship in my lifetime. Was 2 when the Mets won last. Throw in Tottenham and ND, Spurs last trophy in '08 and ND in my early youth... I would love to see something! I have the Devils but I don't get jacked up for hockey even tho i play a bit.

Listening to John Brice, thinks the MF contract is imminent and he'll get around $9M per year.

Also said "talent wise, the most shallow class of Marcus Freeman's" (ducks and runs).

How about we go ahead and announce this formally.

The best time to tell the fanbase MF is here for the next decade was yesterday.

The next best time is today.

Wasn't any talk during his presser yesterday on injury status of the boys.

I imagine next Monday's presser will be our next best bet hearing from him?

So just watch the first of the new episodes of here come the Irish and wow MF during that half time speech. Gives a whole new perspective and I am surprised they did not come out and destroy them.

maybe already talked about but just saw a headliner somewhere saying coach Freeman is the leading candidate for the bears jobs but don't know how interested he is or would be in the job
