USC looks off tonight. That would make up for the Louisville disaster.

I think I’m going to be one of those “taking a break from football” guys this week. This game was depressing because it was a reflection of the program’s institutional shortfalls (depth, play calling, scheduling). Not a ton can be done about those in-season. I don’t need to waste time thinking about the matchups when we are not even giving ourselves a chance to compete.

Yet again Evans was great.
Pretty much everyone else was bad.
The staff needs a total over haul.

This games on Jack. 100% his shitty scheduling how do you not get the team a bye weak until after USC? You also didn’t hire the OC freeman wanted!! Can’t blame Freeman when he doesn’t have the support from the Adminstration with coaching hires and lessening up and standards for allowing transfers
4th and forever from our own 35 with 10 minutes left.

10 men on the field.

The admin isn't responsible for that.

I don't even enjoy watching them play football anymore. Literally expect the worst every single game

Can we sue Del Alexander? Who would have thought a single man who was a position coach could destroy a team.
I think about his atrocious recruiting multiple times throughout these games. The lack of depth/talent is shocking

In the world of transfer portal, the floor for rock bottom is endless. With huge hopes this teams lack leadership has a huge potential to break.

Interesting. This team has quit on this Staff. That OSU loss was awful and all on this Coaching Staff and Freeman didn’t take immediate responsibility for that fuck up.
I dont see that the team has quit, at least not the defense until too late.
Worst coached ND team of my lifetime.
Not defending them, but sadly there have been many worse losses than this one.

Love needs to get more touches.
It’s inexplicable that he isn’t featured more. I don’t see a real offensive philosophy in this team. But, when you have a subpar line I suppose it tough to form a real identity. Next week will really show us a lot about Freeman and Parker.

I just don’t understand why our receivers are so bad.

Freeman is a looser. Hate to say it but he is. He lost to Marshall. But, Stuck with him.

I’m moving on. Someone page/beep me when we’re serious about football again.

Guys... you realize Louisville is ranked right? Yeah, the night sucks but were not losing to last year's Stanford
Correct. But fans listen to all the hype. They tell themselves “OSU & Duke defense are legit!”. Then ALL ND media tells them how this will be a “get right” game for the ND OL and how bad Plummer is at QB and how NCST shut down UL run despite them having an elite RB. Factor in ND being either gassed, overrated or both & it’s little to no surprise that ND gets beat by an inferior opponent.

Stay off Twitter boys & girls.

Where to start......

Team was completely unprepared to play tonight. Both sides of the LOS were lost, and lost badly. What I find interesting is that Billy Schrauth came into the game in the second quarter, first for Coogan, and then for Spindler, and was in at RG for the last two drives, as was Tosh Baker for Blake Fisher. Both Spindler and Fisher were poor tonight, and I wonder if starting jobs are in jeopardy. After the last two weeks, they should be.

On the defensive side, personnel wise, I think they need to consider putting Liufau and DJ Brown on the bench. Liufau's facemask penalty was the killshot in this game, and Brown repeatedly took poor angles in run support that aided in big gains. Can't have this happen.

The team does not play with a lot of discipline, or a lot of smarts. The head coach needs to hold people accountable. This includes his coaches. Parker is way over his head, and does not scheme things up to open opportunities for his players. When the last two teams were crowding the box, why continue to pack multiple TEs and bunch WRs close to the offensive line? THIS ONLY BRINGS MORE DEFENDERS INTO THE BOX!!!! Also, the playcalling on third and short is just nauseating. Stop being cute, and play physically (though, the way the line performed tonight, perhaps he was on to something). Rudolph's charges have been poor the last two weeks, and they need to consider some lineup changes. Spindler is poor at pass blocking, and does not recognize nor pick up twists very well. Fisher is way too inconsistent. Alt had a poor game tonight. The hits keep on coming.

And, in addition, Hartman was very bad tonight. Yes, he had a heavy pass rush in his face, but his ball placement was not good tonight at all. Looked a bit frazzled, TBH.

Freeman needs to establish what kind of head coach he wants to be starting tonight post-game. They are a week away from playing the best offense that they will see all year, and will have a lot of eyeballs on them. The sloppy, undisciplined, uncreative and unmotivated play that they showed the last two weeks will result in being boat raced next week. Have to tighten this ship up.

So last year, ND had Pyne to Mayer & hoped the OL could establish run. This season, ND upgrades QB but the offense devolves to the point that it’s Hartman to Evans and hope the OL can establish the run. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I get we’re thin, young, and now injured at WR but this offensive gameplay was insane. Louisville knows you can’t rely on these WRs to consistently get open so they’re gonna stack the box and sell out on the run. So what does Parker do? No screens, not PA, no roll outs, no simple dig routes, no slants. He’s an idiot and in way over his head.

On September 22, 1996 I sat in Daryl Royal Stadium as Lou Holtz and Notre Dame stole a game they had been primarily outplayed in. The emotion of being behind the entire game, a late turnover leading to a last minute field goal to win. The emotion and excitement was thrilling.

I also remember how after that game, Notre Dame never seemed to recover from the emotional outpouring and effort. They went on to finish that season 8-3, losing some games they really shouldn’t have.

I wonder how much of their heart this year was left on the field after that Ohio State loss.

No, they haven’t quit. They have regressed to the mean, though. I do think Freeman needs to change some things, or at least show he is willing to — he’s way, way to soft on his players from what I can see.

This is what we get for hiring a first-time head coach and a first-time offensive coordinator.

It showed tonight. With our QB, O-Line, RBs, WRs, and TEs, we have NO EXCUSE other than to be a dominant football team offensively. We sucked on O tonight and that is 100% on the coaches.

A loss that probably needed to happen. Last two weeks weren't good enough, but the results were enough to allow the coaching staff to delude themselves into thinking they only needed to make some tweaks instead of rethinking what they were doing entirely. Also probably time to see what you have with Angeli and Minchey. Whatever bowl you make at this point, any player with draft aspirations is sitting out anyway.
