i have the 8's and love them. i guess it depends on what you want in a boot. the 8's are fine for rain etc. when i deal with snow and shoveling, i mostly wear my sorrell's. i feel like the 6's are too short.

I'm tempted to get the bison, but it only comes in 10. I'd get the all red ones but my wife just ordered those and we don't want to match.

This. I've had mine forever. I got them a half size up to allow for the thick wool sox.

Half size up from what they suggest or from your normal size? Their website suggests 1 to 1.5 sizes down.

I didn't realize that. I got 'em a half size up from what I wear in dress shoes. With thick wool socks, mine are fine. But mine are old, so see what tko says about his.

Long time lover of LL Bean Duck's but I came across this pair from Ursus Bape and they are the best boot I've ever had outside of euro mountain boots. Sadly, I don't get to wear them much in AZ outside of trips to the mountains.

Wiz, i think mine are 11, but all size indications have worn away. I normally wear 11.5 and believe i went down. Sorry not much help.

Thanks for the tips guys. We're staying at my mother-in-law's beach house in Ocean City this weekend so we stopped at the LL Bean off the Garden State Parkway driving down last night. I got the fit just right, now I just need to decide on color. The only one in stock in my size right now is the regular tan and brown, but I'd like something a little more funky.

Yeah it's so gay to have a pair of good waterproof boots to do things like hike and shovel snow.

They are the ultimate fall / hiking boots IMO.

However, Bean boots aren't necessarily built for a ton of snow exposure. They aren't 100% waterproof, they get sweaty/damp, and also don't have the insulation of good snow boots.

I have the 8's, and I don't think I would like any higher than that. And I went a full size down and they are still plenty big, even when wearing thick socks in the winter.

I also recommend getting the leather protection stuff that LL Bean sells. When they got wet the leather got kind of dried out, but the leather protection stuff fixed it no problem.

You're thinking too functionally he wanted "something a little more funky."

I know this is a long shot, but I'm ordering a pair of these today and I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion on height. I'm leaning towards 8 inch, but they also have 6, 10, and 12.

...

Doesn't that depend on how deep it gets where you are?

Never mind.

What pair do you wear when making snowmen and drinking hot chocolate?
