So today on my way home from work in a total downpour, I was stopped behind a big party bus at a red light. He started rolling back (I imagine he was in neutral?) And hit my innocent little Carolla. I honestly couldn't believe what had happened, next thing I know, the light is green and he is gone.

I called the company within a minute or two of the incident and he said he wanted pictures of the damage which I provided when I got home. He acknowledged the vehicle was belonged to them. It was a downpour...very limited visibility and honestly it was an impact at probably about a mile per hour on a very busy road that nobody noticed. If the company says we can take it to court, am I fucked?

Would the light have any cameras on it? Maybe you can get a recording of it

File a police report if you havent

This...

I did personal lines insurance for almost 20 years. File the police report and contact your insurance agent/company and have them do the work of filing the claim. Be sure to get an estimate or two on the damage repair.

Also, at least in MD, that is a hit and run of attended property, which is an incarcerable offense as fell as a suspended/revoked driver's license. Very often people are happy to pay restitution to avoid those consequences. You would need to find out who the driver was.

I could ask the owner of the company. Brother in Law is going to Georgetown Law. Says they will probably own up to it and if they decide to fight, my story makes enough sense.

I don't want to destroy the driver, I completely understand the circumstances and stuff, I just want my hood fixed.
