I'm seeing a lot of different people going to extremes and I understand both sides. I know yesterday was the lowest we have felt in quite a while but what is our expectations on the whole? Is winning out a pipe dream? Is losing out a real and scary possibility? Will we beat our biggest rival? I'm curious what you guys think we can do after this loss against the reaming 3 scheduled teams.

I think we're the first three loss team to make the college playoff.

If Golson keeps the turn over pace 8-4. If plays clean 9-3

We could win out. We could lose out. I don't think yesterday was truly what we are, but it is something we are capable of obviously.

8-4 if Golson keeps playing how he has since Syracuse. USC and Louisville are both top 25 teams on talent.

If he cleans it up AND we don't get any more injuries, 10-2.

It's shocking to me that he protected the ball so well in 2012, but is a turnover machine this year.

Yesterday just wasn't ND's day. Every bounce went ASU's way. It happens... move on.

ND wins out... goes to a New Years bowl against a good, not great team and hopefully has a big win to provide momentum which makes 2015 a year to remember.

The one take home from yesterdays game is that they almost came all the way back. This team has heart.

All depends on how Golson responds to this week. Does this deflate his confidence or fuel him to play smarter? I like this team with a "smart" Golson over every team left on the schedule. If yesterday's Golson shows up, we go 8-4. My guess would be somewhere in the middle, like 9-3 with a loss to Louisville or USC, but notboth. N'western is a jailsexing me thinks.

To be fair, he was on a VERY short leash for the majority of that season. He got yanked every time he made a poor decision for the first 2/3 - 3/4 of the year, which probably forced him to play way more conservatively than he would have liked to. I LOVE Golson, so don't get me wrong when I say this, but I think that '14 Golson is probably closer to the reasl Golson that the '12 version.

I think you've spent too much time at the jail, Rudy. Maybe time to use up some of that vacation time?

10-2

The wake up call has been slammed into their face. The talent is there, the desire is there, take the next step and get it done.

The next 3 teams aren't ASU and they aren't FSU. I believe in the Body Blow theory and think yesterday was more of an aberration then reality.

Take most of the year then take yesterday and somewhere you'll find the real team. These fluke bounces aren't going to happen all season.

Woke up to complete loss of faith in Kelly and Golson. I'm guessing they lose a close one to Louisville, "jailsex" Northwestern and get embarrassed by USC.

I've got to believe that Northwestern is as good or better than Navy, so three more losses is not out of the question. It is beginning to look like multiple turnovers are the norm for Golson, not the exception. Louisville and USC are better than some of the teams we've struggled with this year. If the offense can play error free we can win out and finish 10-2. If we continue to turn the ball over at the current pace, we lose to Louisville and USC and play a nail-biter against Northwestern. I'm expecting 9-3 with a loss to either Louisville or USC due to multiple turnovers, but I wouldn't be surprised by 7-5 or 8-4.

I have always felt we were a 9-3 team. With losses coming to 3 of Michigan, Stanford, FSU, ASU, USC, and our bowl game.

Nothing has caused me to change from my initial projection.

I see us winning out, but losing in a bowl game against a strong SEC team (LSU, Georgia, Auburn, etc.)

I'd say we have about a 55-60% chance of winning at USC
70% chance of beating l'ville
90% chance of beating n'western

Golson could turn the ball over 3+ times in each of the next four games and I think we still win.

5+ It'll be close

The only team that I think has a legit shot at beating us is Louisville. And even they will have to play flawless.

I think we could win out but I could also see us losing to Louisville or USC but not both. Not sure about the bowl game because I have no idea who we would play.

I would prefer to play LSU out of those 3.

I don't see the SEC team angle, it looks like Notre Dame is destined for the Russell Athletic Bowl against the Big 12 #3. So probably Kansas State/Oklahoma/West Virginia.

There's an outside chance of getting into the New Years Day bowls. A match up with Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl would be awesome. There are a lot of projections with Boise State in one of those bowls, I'd like to think a 10-2 Notre Dame team gets in over them.

Not possible? Damn. I was secretly hoping for a matchup against LSU.

Notre Dame playing Utah in the Stick a Fork in Them Bowl. After the coin flip to start the game, Everett Golson can shake Utah's Kaelin Clay's hand.

I think the best case scenario is that we finish 7-6 with the bowl loss and we hold unto those 7 wins and they aren't forfeited due to violations. Hopefully we can keep Zaire or Kizer, and that both of them don't transfer before Golson's 5th year appeal is declined before summer.

Then we hope that we only have 3-4 commitments and the whole recruiting class doesn't blow up after Brian Kelly jumps ship to the NFL.

Realistically, 9-3 at worst but 10-2 more likely. People need to chill out.

Did you see the Michigan/Northwestern game. You could barely call that football (LSU/Alabama was also a particularly shitty game, who knew that LSU didn't know how to throw a forward pass).

I will say 9-3 but it could easily be either 8-4 or 9-2 depending on how Golson plays. We curbstomp NW.

My season play of OVER 8.5 is a little more worrisome now...still have faith.. 9-2 going into SC.

I think we demolish Northwestern. They're not especially good and we'll come out with something to prove.

I think Louisville will be an interesting game. They'll try to do to us on defense what Arizona State did. If we learned something from the ASU game, we should handle it better. If we do, despite their weapons on offense, we should win that game. But that's a lot of ifs and shoulds that could go the other way.

USC, who knows. That's a crapshoot. Probably depends more on the emotional state and health of both teams at that point than anything you can analyze three weeks out. All being equal, I still like Golson to win in that sort of scenario.

BUt yeah we could wind up 8-4. or 10-2. Each as easily as the other.
