This one has been bothering me all day. The Bama fans in my office are split. Asking myself the following questions.

  • Is Bama taking a huge risk here?
  • When did Saban's love for Kitten start?
  • Is Kitten really that good of an OC?
  • Saban already rules recruiting, can we expect 5stars four deep now?
  • Is Alamaba now the ultimate evil?

Really have a bad feeling about this one. I know the UT folks will hate Bama and Kitten even more now. Hope the whole place burns to the ground. What a slimy bunch of people.

Bama's offense just got way more dynamic and aggressive which is bad news for everyone else. If their QB sucks then maybe not.

Wondering if things work out long term, does Kitten stay and take over the kingdom once Satan retires?

This one is just too easy.

I'd laugh, but the devil works in mysterious ways.

I can't wait to return to my hometown of Knoxville next fall to witness this game. It is going to be an epic meltdown!
I was in Knoxville and a viewer of what happened in the streets of Knoxville the night Kiffin left. Never seen anything like it.

I have 4 UT season tix, and will be there hanging with the RV crowd. Perhaps you, me, and Greyhammer can hang for a beer and watch the meltdown.

Am I in the minority? I don't think this is a smart move... the guy crumbles under pressure and his ego cashes checks he can't deliver

This is the best environment for Kiffin and his ego to survive. He'll be working for Saban and there's no question as to who the boss is. He won't let Kiffin get away with any BS.

It's funny, Kitten just keep falling forward. Bad season at Tennessee, how about a HC job at USC. Oh that didn't work, well how about a job on a modern day dynasty?

Everyone calls him a great OC. I remember the look on his face after the goal line stands by the ND defense in 2012, the dude looked so far gone!

[*]Is Bama taking a huge risk here? Yes

[*]When did Saban's love for Kitten start? He liked him when he was OC at USC and has commented in the past that he thought he did a really good job developing players while at UT

[*]Is Kitten really that good of an OC? Hard to say. When he was just the OC he seemed to have great success but he did have a lot of talent to work with most years. As a HC calling plays he looked totally different. I am not a fan of the HC being the playcaller on either offense or defense. I think it takes away from their overall ability to manage the game.

[*]Saban already rules recruiting, can we expect 5stars four deep now? Don't think so. Kids still look at depth charts.

[*]Is Alabama now the ultimate evil? No. There are some internal issues with this year's team that may very well be the start of their downfall. This hire may serve as a catalyst to help that along. If Wonder Boy delivers, and Saban can get the players to buy in to his system even more, then they can continue their run. I guess we will see.

Saban has done a masterful job at Alabama, if he sees something in Lane than I have to believe it is legit. Sure we can all hope it implodes but I have to believe Saban is just a tad smarter than all of us when it comes to coaching and hiring coaches. I am sure Lane went in and showed himself to be highly competent at coming up with offensive game plans......like I said, I hope this backfires but we have yet to see Saban really make many mistakes so I think he deserves the benefit of the doubt. Also, Kiffin will rarely ever speak to the media so in a way.........THANK YOU SABAN. Get this assclown off the airwaves!!

Really, really well stated, well thought out post, OT-Town! (Other, muther!)

Your point about play calling as head coach is right on target.

What internal problems? Do tell!

Been some talk that during some high profile recruiting visits, certain players at Bama were telling them to go elsewhere if they wanted to see the field. The 2-3 players that it keeps coming back to haven't seen much of the field so far. It could all be simple speculation at this point, but more than one source has stated they actually heard the players tell that to the recruits directly.

More detailed, one of the players told a recruit that Henry had told Saban that if he didn't play him more in the Sugar Bowl he was going to transfer to Florida State. I don't know if I buy that one because Drake was sat down the last half of the Iron Bowl for his antics during the second quarter of the game. Henry got more reps leading up to the Sugar bowl because Drake didn't get out of Saban's doghouse. The other player mentioned is Kamara and he has already been in trouble with Saban twice. I would be shocked to see him around anyway.

I don't know, bust out a few crystal footballs, some NC Rings, some beautiful cheerleaders and then show a chart of how many Bama Football players get drafted.......recruiting won't be an issue IMO.

Now hopefully Trojan Horse Kiffin on the other hand will thoroughly screw something up......:)

Most people don't have either the humility or the intellectual honesty to say to themselves "I'm not cut out for this job" especially when the job in question is prestigious. Kiffin doesn't strike me as having a whole lot of humility. I'll bet he thinks he'd make a great HC, if just given the right opportunity. My guess is that Kiffin sees the 'Bama job as a pure stepping stone. If he gets some breaks and does a decent job, some program will come calling with a HC position soon enough.

Same think I'm thinking. Aside from arguably his original position as OC with USC, he's been a failure + a slime bucket everywhere he's gone. Several of my USC buddies didn't like him when he was their OC, so I'm not even sure about that period in his career.

My only hope is that he finds some way to screw things up for Bama. The only benefit I've ever seen in Kitten is his hot @$$ wife. Damn she looked good in a short orange dress.

Ultimately I think his ego is so far beyond the point of no return. My fear is that he actually becomes self aware, and ends up learning from Satan and becomes the second coming or anti Christ.

I despise both of them, but I have to admit if Nick Saban hires you as his OC, you've probably got some skills.
