Kent State and the BCS

Do you guys think voters will take Kent State off their ballots [if they win the MAC Championship] to keep them out of the BCS?

The entire situation is very interesting, considering Kent State's only loss was 47-14 to Kentucky (2-10, 0-8, fired coach), but they beat Rutgers, 35-23, who is playing a de facto championship game Thursday against Louisville for the Big East autobid.

Due to the "Boise State rule," we could be looking at three different BCS games featuring:

Wisconsin
UCLA
Rutgers/Louisville
Kent State

BCS rules suck, but they are the rules. 2014 can't get her soon enough. Hopefully they tweak the rules along with creating a 4 team playoff. I'm OK with a Conf Champion going with a crappy record, but not if a they are a winner only because someone else is ineligible. UCLA? Do you mean Stanford?

UCLA will go to the Rose Bowl if they beat Stanford in the Pac-12 CG. Of course, that would give them 10 wins and a really good season, but the Rose Bowl should not feature teams with a combined 8 losses (which it will if Wiscy and UCLA win their respective conferences).

I like Northern Illinois and their QB better.

Either way, they're a better option than Louisville or Rutgers...hell and if GT beats FSU....

Nebraska/Wis is a toss up, I'll give you. I don't really give UCLA a chance in this one after last week.

Northern is going to beat Kent State anyways so it's pretty moot. And I like their QB.

If Northern Illinois wins, I wonder if they could jump into the Top 16. Their only loss was by one point against Iowa on September 1st.

And what's so great about NIU's quarterback? I have no idea who he is.

Lynch has put up similar numbers to Johnny Manziel, of course, it's against lesser competition. Impressive nonetheless.

Except for Alabama, they are about equal..hold off the good ones and feast on the ner-do-wells..
And don't suck against more than one good team (it hurts me to say LSU is good but their defense is good. The rest, not so good)…
As an exercise, check the respective SOS and who did what against whom and you may be suprised at how good and consistent Lynch is as opposed to the other guy..
Didn't Ben somebody come from the MAC?
They have sometimes had some good players. Too bad they don't play in NY or Miami.......?.??
Opps, they do.
Perhaps if the MAC would hire a few better, shall we say, "comfort girls" like their name sake they could get better recruits and compete with the SAC and other glamor institutions of higher learning.
Opps again. Somebody just said they are from OHIO?.. I've been to Miami and that ain't right!
Being a quality individual, the heart and soul of the best defense in the country, and an individual the opposing defenses have to build their game plan to avoid isn't good enough.
Just pad yous stats against a div II ("FBS") team or two and you are the second coming of ..........
..........--- -------!!!!!!
after ONE good game!!!!!!!
WHICH THE DEFENSE WON.

Kent State and Northern Illinois would likely end up losing millions of dollars by making a BCS bowl ala UCONN a few years back when they couldn't sell the alloted number of tickets. Why either of these teams should even qualify is beyond me.

Exactly. They would be insane to do this. However, pride cometh before the fall (in college revenue).

The Big East doesn't deserve a bid, that said, since they do have one if Kent State wins than they rightfully so do deserve their bid. It will be complete BCS madness if:

Wisconsin wins the BIG championship game
Georgia Tech wins the ACC championship game
Kent State beats Northern Illinois
Stanford kills UCLA

Boise State then has the slight chance of sliding into the top 16 to make it a Kent State Boise State Orange Bowl

GT would be in the Orange as the ACC participant. Boise & Kent both cannot make it, per the rules.

You expect SEC coaches to ignore their conferences most dominant win over another Conference Champion? (And possibly another Conference Champion by transference?)
