Don't kid yourselves, Kelly would be a great NFL HC, because he is a hard worker, a great micromanager and a good leader. Thats what a NFL head coach is.

again just going off the rumors, but BK would be a complete dumb ass if he took any job in the NFL.

he is not a player's coach and i've said and many on here have said it many times that his style is soooooo far from being an NFL style.

stay in the college game where you belong and get things figured out so we can be a top notch program like we're capable of.

I believe dad4aa also was a source. Do the 2 together equal a media outlet?[/QUOTE said:
Definitely do not consider me a media outlet. I am very limited with only one source and am still awaiting any confirmation from him...and he may not know anything yet but can at least throw the question out to those that do know.

However, I have not seen any of the good source people be able to say it is false. I agree though that, since there is no media frenzy about this like what happened with O'Brin it is probably false rumors. Probably just paranoid because of what happened last year.

that's pretty much where i'm standing...and imo this will make it tough to recruit this year and into the future.

So just because Kelly is a good coach gives him the right to dangle his dck in the faces of the board every year and interview for the NFL? Gimme me a break.

LOL, is dick dangling a major point in the NFL interview?

Saban is leaving bama every year and somehow bama always lands a top five class.

when has saban actually interviewed with an NFL team?

big difference there between him and Kelly

should BK decide to leave anyone else want to hop on the hire Charlie Strong train with me to replace him??

Already said this to a buddy earlier. I'm on that wagon for sure. Probably talking about being slung over the shoulder versus a dangler in this situation.

No to Charlie Strong. He's very overrated and not entirely sure how clean he is recruiting wise.

Still have not heard a single ND person say he's taking an interview with the Lions, and all I have heard is similar to what someone quoted TJ from II saying he's not looking to go anywhere for awhile.

All I can say is that if he DOES interview and Detroit is willing to open up their wallet to $6mil/year for a longish term deal I expect him to be gone. I don't think he will interview just to come back. If the NFL is an itch he wants to scratch, there is nothing we can do to keep him here.

But right now I still don't think that is going to happen and I expect him to be back until someone shows me evidence to the contrary.

More detail needed.

he's done very well with less superior athletes.

very similar to what Kelly did in Cincy imo.

He's a great defensive mind and i was pretty impressed with Louisvilles' Defense tonight. No reason we can't look the same with our personnel.

If Texas hires him, i think they hit a HR imo. He's a true college coach and great recruiter that will make it easy to keep the road block in Texas for recruiting against A&M, Tech, and TCU

So BK gonna interview VanGorder then hop up to Detroit to interview for the Lions job?

“@MikeGarafolo: NYJ asst Brian VanGorder's "interview" with ND Monday will likely merely be a formality. He's expected to be named the new D coordinator.”

Sorry guys, theres no way this is going to happen. Kelly is not a fool. He interviewed with the eagles earlier this year and then signed a mega contract with ND. He obviously knew he would receive attention again at the end of this year. If he wanted an NFL job, why sign the new contract? Why hire a DC right before you announce you're leaving?
As Judge Judy would say, If it doesn't make sense, its not true.

I'm in agreement with he majority here. I'm thinking the "Kelly's Monday interview" and "Lions looking to interview Kelly" statements got merged to"Kelly to interview with the Lions Monday".

Sorry for adding fuel to the fire without any confirmation. Was in panic mode.

I'm telling you guys basically the only thing I am "well sourced" for is ND athletic department happenings and politics. I haven't heard a single "Kelly to Detroit might happen" and I've heard a lot of "I really, strongly doubt Kelly is going anywhere."

In the offseason I really thought Kelly might be gone prior him signing the contract extension. There were a LOT of feathers ruffled with his Eagles interview. I don't know any of the particulars of what he signed, but after he did every person I talked to said unequivocally that he was all-in on ND for the foreseeable future and wouldn't be leaving for a while. Does that change with the Lions job open? Maybe, but I really don't think so.
