Per Brian Fischer, Pac-12 digital senior correspondent, via twitter:
" Brian Kelly on NFL rumors: “Leaving is not an option. I don’t even think about it.” "

Good! I was honestly getting worried.

More like sharing information, not trolling. Kelly won't leave ND until he is either run out or wins a BCS or 2. I would love it if he ended his career here, I don't think it will happen.

The problem with media reports is generally when there is smoke there is fire.

I think he ends his career at Notre Dame unless he is fired

Wow. So glad to see this. Because on the way home ESPN Radio had Kelly quoted as saying the NFL intrigued him, but it would have to be the right time and place. They mentioned nothing about him also saying he wasn't going anywhere.

I hate ESPN.

"How can you not be (intrigued)?" Kelly told CBSSports.com. "When you've coached football, you look at everything -- you look at high school film and you watch coaches there, college, Division III to Division I, it doesn't matter, college, NFL. All of that stuff intrigues me. I still think it comes down to time and place. What is the right time, and what is the right place? I never take any of that off the board."

Not super comfy with this quote, but I agree with others that he probably wouldn't leave this year.

This couldn't be less true.

Really? Look at any major coaching jumps recently. Deny Deny Deny, UH OH.

Sure, any time there is a change there are rumors first. But there are WAY more rumors than coaching changes. I'd say the accuracy rate is about 3%.

Guys, I don't think he leaves in 2013, but why isn't it a fair topic? Definitely not trolling. If the media is reporting, and BK is asked, and answers..... geesh, it's news, and this is a message board about all things ND.

Good greif. If you don't like the topic, don't open the thread and bitch/whine that there should not be a thread. Holy cow. I feel like I'm sitting in the kitchen with 5 of my Italian aunts bitching about everything, and nothing at the same time.

Kelly is smart enough to know you don't close the door on anything. That said, I don't see him going anywhere soon.

He does have a background in politics...
I don't think he goes anywhere this year, or next.
I think we might have to worry about 2015.
Even so, years away. It's all good, and so is BK.

Let's revisit this thread for many years to come and constantly bring up and rep this post: Brian Kelly will NEVER coach in the NFL!!!!!! He will be on Mt. NotreDamemore with the Rockne, Leahy, Ara, Lou. Mark it.

He didn't rule out the Canadian or Australian Football Leagues.

Kelly rumored to be eyeing Uzbekistani Rugby League chairmanship. "Tashkent is nice this time of year" overheard, we think.

Heard it on the Internet......

Yahoo!'s Pat Forde published a good article yesterday on why Nick Saban and Brian Kelly should stay in CFB:

Notre Dame has a rep as a burnout job, probably more so than any other college coaching position. Only four coaches have lasted longer than seven years: Knute Rockne, Frank Leahy, Ara Parseghian and Lou Holtz – all of whom won national titles. Rockne had the longest tenure in school history, just 13 seasons before he died in a plane crash. Of coaches who walked away on their own accord, the longest tenure is 11 seasons.

But it would be no more stressful than an NFL job, where coaches have less control and authority over who is on the roster and how much the players will listen to them. The Chicago Bears reportedly are one team reaching out to gauge Brian Kelly's interest; he might want to ask Mike Shanahan and Lovie Smith what coaching Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall did for their employment status.

Could Kelly make more money in that league? Sure, but Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick said Sunday that he's ready to meet with Kelly in the near future to "talk about securing that future." Translation: He'll get a raise and extension from his current $3 million salary. He also will be able to bargain for additional facility bells and whistles or other program upgrades from a university that is giddy to be back in the football forefront.

And truth be told, Kelly already has gotten more leeway and administrative support than his predecessors when it comes to things like a training table, a full-amenity football complex and even relaxed penalties for some campus rules violations. It's not an easy job by any means, but it's easier now off the field than it perhaps ever has been.

Perhaps most importantly, recruits are listening to the Notre Dame message as much or more now than at any time in the previous two decades. If anything, the Irish might be a year or two ahead of schedule in terms of national title contention – the thing is rolling in the right direction, at a high rate of speed. If losing truly is the soul-crushing event most coaches say it is, why leave a winner for the likelihood of torment and agony at the next level?

The Uzbeki Unmentionables, however, were 17-0 last season and have everyone returning but Thorax Karkashian, the Flysweep ... difficult to replace admittedly, but Kelly CAN recruit the entire Central Asian area from Sevastopol to the Turfan Depression [and we know what kind of players come out of THAT!]

No way he leaves for that job.

I heard them talking about Brian kelly having intrest in the NFL on sportscenter
Ya never know, however I'm sure he's thinking to himself that the Bear's just fired a guy that's taken them to a Super Bowl and a couple of playoffs, however it is the Not...For ...Long leauge so it wouldn't supprise me if both he and Saban jump ship...
it is what it is .......

To me any chance of Kelly leaving for the NFL next year ended with that loss in the BCS title game. I'm sure he is pissed off and a fire has been lit.

When Ara quit they asked him if giving up 56 unanswered to USC in his last game after being up 28 made him quit. He replied "no in fact it almost made me stay". Nothing gets to a coach to get embarrassed like that, especially when you know you yourself got schooled.
