Jonas Gray Situation

There's major league rumors floating around that Jonas Gray will transfer to MSU. There are all sorts of reasons being floated around out there. The MSU boards are all over this story, and unfortunately it seems to have legs. Depending on who you listen to, it's a) academic, b) much worse to the point where he could be expelled, c) because of touches (I call complete b.s.), or d) he's NOT transferring because he's happy at ND.

In other words, nobody really knows ****, but unfortunately, with a lot of these things, where there's smoke there's fire. From all accounts he's a great young man, and many close to him say he's happy at ND. It's a real headscratcher. Let's pray it's not true, but here's one link:

Now, from a football standpoint, I'm not as high as Gray as other people are, but I'm starting to come around. Dude's got some serious talent, but he's got to master the mental game to get more time. And RB is a position of depth, so it won't kill us this year, but if injuries happen (and football is a violent game), he's a great option to have. And he could be a monster for us come his senior year, esp w/ Alford getting rid of his fumblelitis.

The rumors I'm reading lead me to believe he is in some sort of trouble, and while he may be happy at ND, it might not be in his hands. I have no idea what he may or may not have done, so right now it seems like all speculation.

I have heard the same. I doubt the transfer is in question, because he is 3rd on the depth chart.

I'll be honest if we lose one more top level recruit to transfer I'm am giving up on Weis... on the field has been bad enough at times... but you can take the all players who have transfered out under Charlie, put them with filler players and have a pretty decent team... this is beyond frustrating rumor or not

I understand your point of view, but it seems to me that a lot of the players who left just weren't going to get playing time. They were being passed on the depth chart. Add to that players who got into trouble and had no choice but to leave. This happens all the time and at all schools. Especially after a coaching change or when a team is struggling. Some of these kids just realize they are not in the place they want to be; some even realize they don't want football to be their whole life.

But we don't even know if this is true so why worry about it. I don't think he's transfering personally (disclaimer: not inside information).

There's a lot info being relayed to me right now and I apologize for the previous edit, but I want to sit back and gather all of it before posting it. I'll let you all know as soon as I hear back from my friend.

Step back from the cliff!!! Until we have the "FACTS" behind this situation, please everyone take a chill pill. I know we hate to lose a talented young player, but this has not happened yet and may never.

We must all remember that these are young kids and sometimes they make a bad decision or two. I know I did back in the day. Let's hope it is not a major issue and he is back on the field this fall. Jonas, we are all thinking of you!

IF and I do mean IF we lose Jonas, let's all wish him well and move forward. This team is not short on RB talent, so we will make it fine. We have Hughes and Allen both for two more years. Aldridge can transition back to RB in a split second. We have two very talented freshman coming in the fall, however we most likely will not even need them. Finally, if all the wheels went flat there is a fairly talented WR named Golden who played some RB. Yes, I would have no issue watching Golden carrying the rock.

So, let's all just calm down and see what happens.

This is all up to what the university chooses to do. I know what has happened in the past, but I also know this is an isolated incident. Let's hope this can be resolved in-house, and that Jonas will be allowed to redeem himself. I don't feel comfortable getting into details, but it was a stupid decision on his part, and could be a deal-breaker. Key word being "could". I hope nothing happens, I think Gray has looked great so far, and is a true talent, not just a roster filler. If he goes, I see it as a big loss. Even if he has never seen any starting time, he drives competition in practice, and he will contribute on the field in the near future. Hopefully he stays with ND.

Most of the guys who have tranfered were from his firts real recruiting class, and haven't turned into much anyway. we are better off with them having tranferred. as For Jonas Gray, an article in Rivals basically says hes got into some trouble, but you know how the school tries to keep it hushed so that is all for now. Really doubt he is tranferring. 100% sure it aint to MSU

My lady talked to someone still at ND, and while it looks like it's not something horrific, it is somewhat serious, and there is a real possibility that he won't be playing this fall. That's all I got though, I wish I could tell you more. Fingers crossed...
