Viewership for the two semi-final games was down despite all of the excitement overall for the playoffs and despite matchups featuring blue bloods with huge fan bases.

The obvious reason was due to putting these games on Thursday and Friday to avoid Saturday's NFL playoff action.

Just another reason to set the number of playoff teams at 8. Semi-finals could've occurred a week ago Saturday. Two weeks of rest for the winners before playing the Championship.

Get in price dropped under $2k (including fees). Solid 10% to 15% drop over the last twelve hours. I am trying to figure out what I am willing to spend to get the family in there so I don't have to play favorites.

Alumni club emails from members to the group are rare - maybe one every six months or something. Today there are half a dozen looking for tickets to the game.

A friend sent me a raffle from the Houston club - 500 raffle tickets at $50 each to include Gulfstream to and from Houston to Atlanta, limo transfer to game and ND suite experience. They really sold themselves short on that - only a $25k raise? Sold out quick of course.

You are undoubtedly correct. But showing these games on a Thursday and Friday to work around the NFL isn't the answer just to make this thing a 12 team playoff. Squeeze it back down to 8.

I have a feeling the get in price will be around 1k on the 20th around noon. $800 around 6pm, and so on so forth. But that only helps people close to the stadium like me when these whores start to realize they may get stuck with tickets.

It all comes down to getting rid of the stupid conference championship games. Do that and you can slide the start of the playoffs up a week - problem solved.

I am pondering a drive there Monday on the assumption we can get in with decent seats for $1k-ish per person. These neutral site games tend to have prices crater as the local demand isn't enough to eat up the residual tickets. How many people look at $2k tickets and mark it DOA never to look again? Add in a weekday game and you have a recipe for a good price drop.

Agreed!

When the sugar bowl was announced tickets were crazy and I even had some UGA friends pull the trigger for around 1k/ticket. Tickets then tanked and I'm talking before the attack.

I do have an empty rental property in Roswell if people wanna bring air mattresses. I could probably fit 20 peeps in there. LMAO

I get the NFL is the big dog, but I would have scheduled them both for Saturday regardless of the NFL. The first year for the playoff has created a lot of excitement and when you have four blue bloods participating, they might have drawn better than what they did.

Even Friday night and Saturday at 1 would have been better. Saturday early game flows right into the NFL games.

Play them on Saturday afternoon and night. Saturdays are for college football. Everyone knows this. Fuck the NFL and its boring over-hyped nonsense. Let them move for once.

11 Warriors pod thinking OSU will blow ND out. PSU podcasts were saying ND stole their W against them and it was theirs for the taking. Frustrating analysis. Hoping ND hears this and comes out with hate and discontent on their minds.

Regardless, ND has to figure out how to run effectively on the Bucks from the start.
We survived the first half only being down 10-3. Without looking at the scoreboard and just seeing highlights one might have thought it should have been 20-0. ND made adjustments and won the game. I think if played again we win again.

That's the kicker, most people can't afford a 10k weekend. So it turns into a corporate event, and the real fans get screwed. I've told this story a million times, but not sure I've told it here. I went to Miami for the Natty in 2013 and I bought my tickets off stubhub 4/5 hours before the game and they had locations around the stadium to pick up your tickets. Long story short, they made me hold up my tickets and drivers license and took my picture. I laughed and said "I've bought tickets from SH a million times and never had to do that before" the guy responded very matter of fact "This game is going to go the same way as the '05 Orange Bowl Natty (OU vs USC) and we don't want a bunch of chargebacks like we dealt with then. So I ended up going to Miami dropping 5k and it was over before the end of the 1st quarter.

I don't believe that will happen to anyone this year, but that stung for YEEEEEARS
Yeah, when I looked into going, tickets were just above $2000 each and flights from Columbus were around $850 each. Didnt even look at hotels. I ended up getting 2 tickets and a hotel room for the Lions playoff game this Saturday for less than one ticket to the ND game.

I know that tickets will go down on game day, but didn’t want to commit to the hotel and flight without a ticket. 🤷🏻‍♂️

We are heading to Atlanta without tickets and whatever they are a few hours before gametime, we'll already be pot committed. Here's top hope they drop as I hope they will.

The current point spread of +8 sure fits with the public narratives for both teams along the way to the final. For Ohio State, the post game narratives have been focused on their dominating offensive performances against Tennessee and Oregon, then how they eventually beat Texas with their big plays on both sides of the ball.

For Notre Dame, the post game narratives have been less about Notre Dame, and more about the failures of their opponents. Indiana didn't belong in the playoff. Georgia was missing their starting QB. Penn State's QB made a fatal error late in the 4th. There are some positives about Notre Dame's performance, but it feels like the story is that ND's opponents failed more than ND succeeded.

+8 feels right if you buy into the narratives. Rasputin doesn't.

Just booked the flight & hotel.. Taking my two older boys to the game.

I do think this is a team of destiny.. as cheesy as it sounds. They just keep finding a way to win.

And I know the 2012/13 team was similar in that regard but we match up much better here than we did against that Bama team.

Ohio St is clearly the more star studded group but we are so cohesive & consistent I just think it’ll come down to the wire again & I like our chances with Freeman at the helm.

I just can’t miss the opportunity to be there when ND finally wins another national championship.

This freeman team beats Kelly’s team team by 2 scores.

Yeah this is what I'm hoping to do as well, but I'll just need to see some evidence of that price drop beginning when the weekend rolls around, cause my drive is pretty long lol

I paid right about $1000 apiece for my tickets in 2012. In today’s dollars that’s just under $1400. Could see prices getting there, but I doubt much lower. Especially with Ohio being reasonably drivable to Atlanta - that’ll keep demand elevated.

Anyway I thought about a next weekend decision to drive but then realized Atlanta is 17 hours from Massachusetts…

SEC refs are actually good news for us. If there were to be some questionable officiating stemming from unconcious or concious bias from the officials, the SEC certainly would not want back to back B1G national champions. Then there's the narrative that the team that won the CFP was the team that was only able to beat the SEC champion because their starting QB was out.

My only thought is that this is a random Monday in Atlanta vs that being a Monday in Miami in early January (I was at ND at the time and it was still our winter break) - more reasonable to make a trip out of that trip than this? But I know that's probably just wishful thinking.

I'm thinking of driving from CT so I'm right there with ya
