Just got smacked in the mouth the last 24 hrs with a case of food poisoning, probably the most sick I’ve ever been in my adult life. The Irish are going to win one for me, I can feel it

Against Tennessee and Oregon, Howard was dropping dimes. It all depends on which Howard shows up.
I read or heard somewhere that Howard has thrown all his picks into zone coverage. Zero interceptions in man coverage.

Time to tell my Ohio State story (really my Dad's.) My Dad grew up in Chicago and he and four friends went to Notre Dame together. The picture is of him and his buddies. The two guys on the ends were ND athletes (maybe the little guy too.) My Dad (second on the left) walked on Football, Wrestling, and Baseball (he was a very good pitcher.) It's the guy on the right who is the story. That is Andy Pilney, an All-American RB who is considered the hero of Notre Dame's victory over Ohio State in 1936 (I think that's the right year.) Dad roomed with Pilney and their other roommate was Moose Krause. Dad used to stay after practice with Pilney to help him with his kicking (he was a drop-kicker, who could hit from 50 yards.)

My dad's main part of the OSU story was that as a senior he traveled to Columbus (just as a student; the coach cut him) to see our guys play. He walked the streets and heard a loud bar. Inside the OSU fans were joking it up about beating ND and playing the OSU song. Dad went in. Sized up the main OSU fan leading the singing. Went over to him. Introduced himself as an ND fan. AND STIRRED THE GUY'S DRINK WITH HIS CIGAR while suggesting: don't you think we should play the Notre Dame Fight Song?

I don't know how he got away with that (he WAS pretty intimidating when he wanted to be), but the big OSU guy looked at him and said: yes. Let's play the Notre Dame song.

Andy Pilney, Bill Shakespeare, and Wayne Milner won that Columbus game, and all of them received AA mentions.
I envision Dad looking something like the following when he remembered that bar later in life.

May it be so again.

Lou is nothing but class

People forget our advantage in this game: the uniforms

OSU has seen us in whites and greens as of late….this time they’re getting the blues out and it’ll be a different story

Surprising my dad with a ticket of the game to go with me. He was C/O 90 and wasn’t able to go to the the 88 game. Was raising me and my sister and couldn’t afford to go to the 2012 game. Will be going to the 2024 game.
That's awesome. I'm hoping to be able to take my son and dad. Waiting on prices to keep coming down. We're only 2 1/2 hours away so we can do a last minute trip. The three of us went to the Spring game together so this would be a good endcap to the season. Go Irish!

I could die happy almost immediately after the game if I got to see this while living on the edges of Buckeye country
Don’t get it twisted, you’re on the edges of Bearcat country. Columbus doesn’t have shit but the blue jackets

Only during warmups. When the team goes back to the locker room, the black unis will be hanging in their lockers. Then it will be on!!!!

To whoever needs to hear this: (not saying IE per se)

If you think Lou Holtz is going to jinx this team. Or give OSU bulletin board material. Or whatever your vagina asses worry about.

You fucking realize this man has won it all because of his confidence right? This 88 year old man has balls bigger and healthier than hundreds of dorks I've seen online.

If Notre Dame loses this game. They are going to lose with pride and dignity and they will get better. But they are not going to lose because they are timid and fearful.

What tho the odds be great or small

I think people are just reacting to the fact that Notre Dame is the obvious underdog, and team with no pressure on them.
Ohio State $20M roster, Notre Dame injuries, Vegas thinks OSU wins running away, etc…

Lou throwing his rhetoric into the mix gives Ohio State fans and most importantly locker room something to pounce on.

I just don’t think it’s a positive for ND, but certainly won’t be the reason we win or lose this game.
Just my two cents

OMM, I just wanted to let you know, now and forever, you have been a blessing to this site and the community here for so many years. What a great post. Thank you for sharing. God bless your father and God bless Notre Dame.
