LOL. A far cry from the list that was falsely reported earlier. Outside of Dennis Thurman don't think I've heard of any of them.

indeed its not really the all star ticket that was rumored. I can remember Kevin Mathis in NFL but never knew he was a coach

4 Star 2021 WR from FL

https://247sports.com/college/flori...e-Tigers-head-coach-Deion-Sanders--158592025/

Rucker had given the Gators two verbal commitments over the course of his recruitment. One back as a freshman and his second time was in January of 2020. However, the Gators did not sign him during the Early Signing Period. The 5-foot-11 1/2, 157-pounder is the second former Gators commit in the 2021 class to give Jackson State head coach Deion Sanders his commitment, joining former offensive line commit Javonte Gardner, who signed with the team during the Early Signing Period after the Gators did not sign him early.

Hope I'm wrong but I'm going to feel bad for these kids when the HC bolts after 2 years, vacate seasons, transfer, etc.

'It's unacceptable:' Deion Sanders rants about uneven playing field at Jackson State, HBCUs
Nick Suss
Mississippi Clarion Ledger

Deion Sanders isn't in the NFL anymore. He's not even at Florida State anymore. He's in the Southwestern Athletic Conference, where he's discovering that all football programs are not created equal.

Sanders addressed the media at SWAC Media Days Wednesday for the first time as Jackson State's football coach. The NFL and college football Hall of Famer was asked about his first impressions about coaching in the SWAC at a historically black university, and Sanders said the big adjustment is realizing that Jackson State doesn't have the same resources as the major power players in college football.

"The playing field is horrible," Sanders said. "It's not a level playing field. It's unacceptable. Thank God that God called me to change the game, to open their eyes, to open the door. Not just for Jackson State, but for everybody."

Forget billionaire boosters and 100,000-seat stadiums for the moment. Sanders says the real disadvantage for smaller schools comes in the details. Rickety training tables. Uneven practice fields. Outdated helmets, pads and practice equipment.

Deion Sanders is in his first season as Jackson State head football coach.
Resources aren't equal. And to Sanders, that's holding schools like Jackson State back from matriculating players into the NFL.

"Some of the things that I've seen thus far early in my tenure are truly unacceptable," Sanders said. "It causes a kid not to dream. It causes a kid to not have that passion because he don't see no end result that's promising for him."

Sanders said he has had to take a proactive approach to combat this inequity. Jackson State has been the recipient of some big-money donations since his hire. But Sanders has also helped coordinate the apparel deal with Under Armour. He has had meetings with Golden Corral about giving him a place to bring his players when they want to eat off campus.

He says he's doing what he's doing for the sake of his players. Sanders says he isn't coaching for himself. If the goal really is to help his players get to the NFL and achieve the same dream he achieved more than 30 years ago, he has to start by giving them every advantage a player in the Southeastern Conference or Atlantic Coast Conference would have.

"I'm doing this for these babies, man," Sanders said. "They deserve it. The look in their eyes when they get a whole new sweatsuit just to wear back to the durn dorm. Shoes and looking the same when they get the helmets and the uniforms and all that stuff plays a tremendous role.

"You know my quote. If you look good, you feel good. That's the durn truth."

Another big recruit for JSU. Four star WR Kevin Coleman chooses JSU over Miami and FSU.

Deion Sanders playing in a sandbox he has no business being in. Love to see it. Complete disruption.

When Prime was with the Reds in '97 I was running a sporting goods store in Cincinnati. He used to come in quite a bit. There were many times he came in and bought random stuff to give out to underprivileged kids in the Cincinnati area. He always did it in a way to not draw attention to himself. He may have an oversized media ego, but in private he is a totally different guy. Deion is OK in my book.

I've never personally meant him. But I know several that have. Same take as you, Good guy and not even close to what he is like when a camera is on him.

That’s been my take on him. I think once you get past the “Prime Time” image, he seems like a decent dude w/ good intentions. Of course, he’s far from perfect…like everyone else.

the youtube show about his program is actually an interesting watch. He's definitely a good people manager and has good personal skills. Managing a HBCU has to be an absolute nightmare tbh, even after watching Last Chance U you'd see there are JUCO's with better setups than a typical HBCU program

In the era of the transfer portal and NIL, he could have his pick of P5 jobs (outside of ND, Stanford, Northwestern, Vanderbilt, Duke) and do very well.

Consider his top two JSU lieutenants: Tim Brewster and Dennis Thurman. Two guys in their 60s who have been around. If Deion were to go to GT or FSU, he'd have to make smart assistant coaching hires and I suspect he would. I also think he'd do so without much bias. Brewster and Thurman are great hires for a guy who has never coached before.

I think Deion is a lot smarter than people give him credit for when you get past the showmanship.

The good ol boy network would be disrupted if this guy took a P5 job ever.

I don't know if I'd agree with everything Deion does, but I'd be here for it.

I hope it happens. It would be extremely entertaining theatre regardless of how it plays out.

he's also got Mike Zimmer (his old coach in the pro's) working as an assistant for him for basically free. I'd be very very interested to see what kind of staff he could put together in a P5 gig with all his connections

I got no doubt he could get together a staff. End of the day, he's coaching at the JV FCS level. Results shouldn't be taken seriously. Then again, that's how Harbaugh got his start
