Bevacqua won't be able to keep both jobs at once, obviously, but he's going to have some pretty significant insight once he steps into Jack's seat as it relates to NBC's situation in addition to the link with the Big Ten. Could end up being important down the line.

He was a walk on punter that graduated in 1993. He knows fuck all because of that. The way the sausage is made in 2023 is nothing like 1993, and any realistic ND fans understand that entirely. There's no halfway.

Working for NBC has probably shaped his worldview ten fold compared to his college experience at ND back under Holtz. That's why he's getting the job. Being an alum is secondary at best.

There are quite a few ND alums who are currently Division I athletic directors. Most of these jobs are more about business than athletics today, so being an actual athletic administrator probably gets you to a G5 school at best if you work really really really hard for a few decades.

This guy is an NBC exec with a Georgetown law degree that went to prep school in Connecticut with an ND degree. He was the CBO of USGA and CEO of the PGA. LIke it was posted earlier, the new boss is may as well be the old boss. This job is about cashing checks and snapping necks. It's no different than being commissioner of the NFL or MLB or one of these P5 conferences. You're there to make money for certain people. The fans are not your priority.

This dude wakes up every morning and having played for Holtz is probably thousands of afterthoughts deep into his brain.

college football is certainly in a much different landscape now than 1993, but football wasnt and isnt any more or less of the golden goose then as now.

btw - sausage, generally, has been made the same way for at least 250 years (the hand meat grinder was invented in mid 19th century), doubtful that changes any time soon, just like ND football has and always will be the hand that feeds.
