Quit people get mad when we call out an outlier here because we must be looking to eliminate free speech. (Although my success rate has been really high on finding these types.)
Turtle, people are beginning to think you're a troll because you've started 7 new threads in the last 9 days. None of the topics involved were unique or important enough to merit its own thread. Your takes can be as pessimistic, "real", etc. as you want; just find an existing thread to post them in. Starting a new thread every day since the Cotton Bowl screams either "I'm looking for attention regardless of the quality of my posts" or "I'm an emotional wreck and demand others join me in my misery regardless of how this board works". Neither one of those is going to win you many friends around here.
Wait, I thought Sea Turtle was Cack or one of the other guys that was banned around that same time? That was when Sea Turtle popped up.
You thought,.... the creator of THIS thread,.... was Cack....
okay, I'm starting to think that it's ulukinatme who is actually irishpat.
Feel like Im taking crazy pills. There is literally a 0% chance this thread is made if ND didnt wet themselves and embarrass the living crap out of the school, program, and fanbase on Saturday.

It's not even about free speech. This is a Notre Dame football forum. We should be discussing the program critically as well as in a positive light. The vast majority of my posts are either positive or neutral.
I do think that if you're even more hard core about academics with the football program than STANFORD, then that might be a problem. Or maybe not. But it's certainly worth discussing. And I don't think that the Administration is above criticism.
Sea Turtle aside...the answer is yes.
Stanford, Northwestern, Duke, Wake Forest off the top of my head. Why? Because of the coaches as much as the school. Never a hint of scandal under their tenures, consistently successful, and incredibly strong academically.
Are they consistent contenders? No. Have they made the CFP? No. Are they still successful given who they are? Yes.
ND should be ecstatic if they go 9-3 or better every year considering the roster they recruit, the schedule, and the miles they travel every year.
I don't know, I think 9-3 should be the bare minimum every year given the roster we DO recruit. We're consistently a top 15 and often a top 10 or better class. It's not Alabama, but you would expect that we have some of the best recruits on hand each season. If you're consistently recruiting well you shouldn't have years we're you're rebuilding, just reloading. Maybe we're finally there again, we'll see. Given metrics, schedules, and the rest I think with the rosters we have we should be hitting 10-2 or better almost every season. Of course, that doesn't factor in the coaching element, and that's where we were severely lacking for many years.

Whether this is a troll post or not, I do think it is a relevant and interesting topic to discuss after our bowl game.
I had a cousin who was recruited by most of the big ten and committed and played at Indiana. His major while there was General Studies. General Studies..... I'm not sure what the point of that even is. Needless to say he did graduate with a degree, but nowhere really to go with it. Fortunately, he has made a living as a salesman and high school football coach.
My point being, every school is going to have easier pathways for academics for their athletes. Does Notre Dame? I have no idea. I doubt they do.
The question is should they have a pathway that isn't too easy, but a bit less rigorous than those that are studying to be an engineer, CEO, or doctor? IMO I think there should be, but without losing our morals or turning into a football factory.
