So in light of NDinLA, soon to be SB, meeting up with Neuheisel, I thought we could share any kind of brush with fame you might have had in the past.

I'll start with Rosa Parks, met her on a plane from Arkansas to Memphis. Very sweet lady, se even hugged me after our chat. Will never forget it.

George Clinton, yes that George Clinton. Waiting for a flight from Detroit to Dallas. Again, very nice dood, could have chatted all day about music.

When I was but a wee pup my Dad would take me to Detroit Tiger games. This one particular day we were getting autographs near the field when Kirk Gibson walked by. There was probably 5 or 6 kids in a group, me included, who were calling for him to drop by and drop some autographs and hand shakes. This group included one special needs boy who had been waiting a few years to meet his idol Kirk. He walked right by us, less than 4 feet away, without a single acknowledgement.
Luckily for me Buddy Bell of the Texas Rangers happened to be finishing batting practise, I called him over, my Dad snapped some pictures, we got his autograph and chatted for about 10 minutes. Later on my Dad had sent a blown up picture to Buddy care of the Texas Rangers to see if he would autograph it and send it back, he did. One of my favorite people to this day.

Rick Flair, that's awesome. I don't really have a long list but I will play.

Joe Montana -daughter graduated same year as I did, she was actually in one of my PE blocks.
DickyV - owns The Broken Egg chain down in Sarasota where I live.
Vinny Paz - 5x world champion boxer, came in to help out the boxing team.
Brett Keisel - lived in the same complex as a friend of mine in PA.
Teddy Atlas - world class boxing trainer/held a gun to Mike Tyson's head. Again, came into the boxing room.
SaltyND - haha.

Feel like I might have more but I'm blanking.

I debated quite a while before deciding to post this, but the evening is slack, so...

When you're on the high side of seventy you have met a lot of people. Whether they were "interesting" or not goes to taste, I suppose, so it is with humility that I tender this list:

1). The only Hollywood type I've met is Shirley MacLaine, Say what you will, she is/was stunningly entrancing;
2). The most famous sportsperson I've met is Jerry West --- as great a guy as he was a basketball player; and of course Nick Buoniconti was on my floor and intramural BBall team at ND;
3). I've known three billionaires. Two were quite upright nice folks: Laurence Rockefeller and Hans-Adam, Prince of Liechtenstein. The Prince offered to meet me and Mother at the Palace and "For her, I will wear my crown";
4). The Dalai Lama --- one of those brief post-talk pass-by hellos;
5). The theoretical physicist, and buddy of Einstein's, David Bohm --- he put up with my amateur ideas about quantum physics for a surprisingly long time;
6). The greatest scholar of "distant healing" in the world, Dr. Larry Dossey --- who is now a friend;
7). Dr. J.Allen Hynek, the USAFs scientific advisor on the UFO phenomenon for twenty years --- uber-interesting;
8). Dr. Robert Jahn, dean emeritus of Princeton Engineering, who has proved that on a microscale we can influence sub-atomic particles with our minds. This research, by the way, shows how you and I can have free will;
9). almost all of the heavy-hitters researching anomalistic phenomena --- this by being a member of the Society for Scientific Exploration;
10). several Nobel Prize winners. Some were nice; some just over-inflated a**holes;
11). Hal Puthoff, who ran the CIA Black Project trying to see if they could use clairvoyance as a means to penetrate Soviet high-security installations. The Soviets had their own project;
12). John Schuessler, the guy who headed NASAs project to repair the Hubble Space Telescope;
13). Carl Sagan --- more open-minded when no microphone was around;
14). a friend who worked in the National Security Agency --- I will not name him;

--- well, a lot more. My life has been long and has dwelt in interesting topics and researches. Being good at what you do also attracts other interesting productive people to you. And moments-to-remember happen frequently.

But "interesting" and "important" or even "fine" do not necessarily go together. The "interesting" person that I've met who best personifies also "important" and "fine" was ----

Notre Dame's Ted Hesburgh. THAT is a man.

OMG OMG OMG! I envy you so much I hope to one day meet him he's responsible for creating many things that have led to happiness in my life. I need more details on that, man, excelsior!

Anyway my list is rather lame unless youre a wrestling fan

Nature Boy Ric Flair- WOOOO nice guy was startstruck meeting him.
Kurt Angle- Antoehr nice guy admired him because I wrestled in high school and he was a gold medalist before becoming a pro wrestler
CM Punk- cordial but not sup friendly
Randy Orton- Really nice guy surpirsingly
Charlie Haas- Former WWE wrestler now wrestling in a smaller promotion called ROH. I only mention this meeting becasue he saw that I was wearing an ND shirt and we chatted for about 15 minutes about ND football after the show. We were holding out for hope that we would spoil Andrew Luck's senior night....damn still a cool moment.

Other than Minnesota coach Jerry Kill came and talked to my team during summer football camp before my senior year back when he was still with SIU. Though I didnt really get to meet him one on one or shake his hand because he said that was a violation and he could only talk to us as a group. Still I dont care what anyone says about him he's a remarkable and I hope he can find some kind of success with the gophers.

You ****ers are way too Big League.

I have met no one famous.

But then again, I live in the vastly un-populated regions of the southwest US.

I met a bad *** horny toad.

I met Buck Owen's grandson and drank a ton of beer with him. Dave Owens was my crew boss at the JAC/WFAP in Sacramento. He also hailed from Bakersfield, like his grandfather.

I'm fourth cousins with Glen Campbell. I was actually related to his late wife. Billie Jean.

I brained Kendra Wilkinson's husband in highschool football.

I am fairly good buddies with Cody Ross of the Boston Red Sox, former NLCS MVP and World Champion San Fran Giants. "Ross is boss."

And I tebowed in front of a "Tebow's" store in the Amarillo Mall last Thursday.

Pics are inbound... lol.
