Got drafted for mandatory OT this weekend...what are the odds of me DVRing the game and my phone not posting 700 updates throughout so I can watch it later? (Answer: 0.00001%)

I think you show up for work and after about an hour, you get sick and need to go home. No need to overcomplicate things.

turn your data off on your phone or bring a TV to work...

Where are you guys from in Indy? I live in Evansville now, but lived in Greenwood for about 5 years. Made it a lot easier to get up to South Bend. From there it was only like 3 hours, from here it's like 7 or 8.

I live on the SE side (Wanamaker area). I'm about a 10 minute drive from Greenwood. IrishYJ is from Indy, but he lives in Atlanta now.

I come down to Evansville about once every 3 months. We have an office on the north side of town not far off of I-69.

Coach Frank Reich
On the Chiefs offense

“This is certainly the best offense, obviously, statistically in the NFL this year. Biggest challenge that we’ve faced.”

On Patrick Mahomes

“He’s an electric player. He can create big plays. He can do it out of the pocket, in the pocket, he’s got great weapons. It’ll be a challenge. It’s exciting. As a player, there is something about you that likes playing against the best and certainly he’s had that kind of year, so I think guys will look forward to the challenge.”

“The arm talent is just crazy. I’ve heard people use the term generational arm talent. I think that’s really true. As a former quarterback, I don’t say that about too many people. I don’t throw that term out real easily, but I think he’s a legit generational arm talent.”

Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus
On the Chiefs offense

“They’ve got several All-Pro players on their squad. They have a lot of good players that didn’t get that recognition. There’s a lot of skill on that side of the ball for them. It’s just, the scheme is a little bit unique too in terms of what they do and how they do it. It’s going to be a big challenge for our defense.”

On what the Chiefs do

“They really spread the field horizontally and vertically with your defense and make you tackle in space. That’s what they do. Again, our fundamentals of the cup, our fundamentals of setting up and breaking, tackling and striking, those are going to be the big things for us that we want to make sure that we handle in terms of just our basics of our system.”

On Patrick Mahomes

“Yeah, the first thing that jumps out to you is arm talent. The great quarterbacks of the game, if you go all the way back to the beginning and watch those guys, the two things they have is timing and accuracy. They have varying degrees of arm strength, but man, the timing at which they throw the ball and it gets there on time and the accuracy which they have. This is what this young man has. Then it’s been obviously talked about a lot — his athletic ability to escape and him throwing from different arm angles and all those things, he certainly has that. But he has the attributes you want in terms of timing and accuracy.”

On the explosiveness of Chiefs offense

“Statwise, they get first and second down, and they don’t go to third down very much. They get a lot of explosives (plays) and they’re top of the league in that. And really, they’re top of the league in every category. You’re dealing with an offense that’s above everybody else in those stats. Like I said, we’ve got our hands full. We’re certainly going to try and limit the big plays and it’ll be a big challenge.”

On Chiefs skill players

“Yeah, I think it’s a big issue when you start dealing with different skill-sets. When teams have a good receiver and a good tight end and they can put them on opposite sides of the ball or on the same side — mostly opposite — that creates problems for the defense. It just does, the matchups.”

Stats
The last team that averaged more points per game in the regular season than the Chiefs (35.3) was the Denver Broncos in 2013 (37.9), and prior to that the New England Patriots in 2007 (36.8). Peyton Manning in 2013 is the only QB other than Mahomes to throw for 50 touchdowns and 5000 yards in a season (5477 yds and 55 TDs). In 2007, having added Randy Moss, Wes Welker and Donte Stallworth to the Patriots receiving corps, Tom Brady set the regular season scoring record with 589 points. KC scored 565 points this season. Mahomes has thrown for 5097 yds and 50 TDs.

Forecast is 3-5" in the area. Rain now turning to rain/snow mix. Snow overnight until morning then snow showers or light snow until evening. Highs 32-34 degrees. Light wind 6-7 mph

Grew up downtown (across from Eli Lilly) in an Italian hood, and later near Garfield Park. My mother lives farther south now in burbs off 135/Meridian. I've been in ATL since late 97.

I will be shocked if Watkins and Berry don't play.

I think Watkins will play, but it's going to be hard for Berry to be a full go given his position. Even at 80% he's still pretty damn good though. Not sure he can do a TY at his age though lol.

My wife is from Evansville, so I know the city pretty well through all the trips we make down there. TBH, I like it better than Fishers, where we live.

I've got a bunch of family in Fishers. They all love it. I can't stand the traffic. That's bad from a guy who lives in ATL now lol.

Traffic was bad enough where I live in Fishers, then they put a Top Golf and Portillos right here, and are currently adding The Yard (Sun King Brewery, restaurants, shops). Its gonna be a MESS.

Bottom line is Fishers is growing WAY faster than they can keep up, and it always feels like the whole city is under construction.

Talk on local radio this morning about Golden Tate coming to the Colts. don't know if there are any legs to this, but I would love to have him opposite TY.

Would absolutely love to have Tate if he doesn't want to break the bank. He was having his arguably best season in the last 4 or 5 years before the move to Philly. Regardless, still hope they go after a stud WR in the draft.

Colts fire O-Line coach. Wasn't on the same page as Reich. Wants his guy as this was McDaniels choice.

The Colts want Vinatieri back for one more year. Thinking is that they will draft or sign a ufa in the off-season.

Like you said, wasn't Reich's guy, but I guess he thought enough of him to recommend him to other teams.

Apparently Reich doesn't like the way DeGuglielmo communicates and treats the players. Denzelle Good's brother was shot and killed mid-season. Good took a week off to attend the funeral and support the family. DeGuglielmo didn't like that and thought he should have never left the team and berated him over it. I'm figuring Reich waited until the end of the season to keep some continuity.

I’m not sure what’s going on. Q and Kelly came out in defense of the coach. Said he was a great guy.

A lot of chat happening about trading Brissett coming up on the last year of his contract.
What do you think we could get for him?

Keep in mind he was a 3rd round draft pick for the pats. The Colts traded a young and improving 2nd year WR who was a 1st round draft pick to get him. IIRC Dorsett has two TDs for the Pats so far in the playoffs this year.

I'd take a 2nd round pick
or
A quality WR, CB, DL, OL, or RB
or
A decent but less talented backup QB + 3rd round pick

Early in the season Ballard said he wasn’t interested in trading Brisset but he may have still had reservations about Luck’s shoulder at that time.

If somebody offers a third round pick you should take it. You won't get a better package imo. He's gone after this year right?

one more year on the contract (2019 reg season is his last)

FWIW, IIRC, a few teams got 2nd rounders for pretty crappy BUs.

I'm not saying that the right circumstances can't pop up where you can get more than a 3rd, but I think unless the perfect storm arises that's his ceiling. Jimmy G was gonna be a free agent and had shown more than Brisket. Same for Sam Bradford, who for some reason was still valued highly both times he was traded for a high pick. That's all I can remember in recent memory.

I'd take a quality CB or DL for sure and possibly a running back too. WR I think we almost have too much "quality" and need to look hard at getting a play maker. OL we're doing just fine and doubt any team would give up the player we'd want for a back QB.

We also have a ton of draft picks. Another second rounder would be nice but not exactly what we need. We probably stand a better chance getting a quality RB in the draft as well.

See comment above re: draft picks - taking a lesser QB for a 3rd round draft pick we don't need doesn't make much sense to me either.

I'll take all the draft picks we can get. Said Bill Belicheat...

I don't feel too much "quality" at WR. I feel too much 1) over paid unproductive guys from FA, and 2) unproven "potential". Quality was probably a bad word that's too subjective. What I was envisioning was a guy like Ebron who might not have worked out in another team's system, but would fit in to the Colt's scheme.

I'm personally not fine with the OL. KC exposed us...

Except for RG, I'm okay with it. RT Smith is a rookie that was supposed to play RG, but his performance in camp earned him a starting spot. IIRC he graded out pretty high. With a year under his belt, he should be even better.

There was a lot of interest in Brisset last year and IIRC the Colts turned down several offers for him. Most think he can be a decent starter in the league, so I think you might be able to get a 2nd round pick for him.

Heard on the radio Pagano says he has no desire to be a HC again. Good idea chuck. I'm not sure anyone would offer you a HC position again.
