I just can’t believe our Border Czar hasn’t been more effective in reducing the number of immigrants streaming over the border in record numbers. It’s also surprising that our border patrol officers are figuratively handcuffed and overwhelmed in responding to the issue.

Not sure if anyone can confirm but I have border patrol friends that say they can see them cross on cameras or satellite while they sit and watch but lack the man power to apprehend them all. I have a friend that works surveillance that one of his jobs is to blow up tunnels that extend from one side to the other using satellites and drones… yes drones.

The number of border crossers have surpassed farm labor in 2022 alone. Unless you are saying immigrants are like cheap batteries and need to be replaced every month the fact remains there is a “water leak”.

Unfortunately numerous sectors our economy are structured to treat labor in general like “cheap batteries”.

As it relates to food production I can say based on my own personal experience that crop harvesting by hand (good luck mechanizing picking melons, strawberries, lettuce, ect…) and food processing is back breaking and even in the short to medium term physically debilitating due to the repetitive motion required to be efficient.

I could say much the same about various service and construction sector jobs as well.

What might make that type of work more tenable to Americans?

Higher wages? Maybe.

Free medical care? Maybe

Paid leave? Maybe

Free child care? Maybe

How would that be achieved?

Unions? Maybe

Nationalized healthcare system? Maybe

Restructuring the tax code so assholes with the concentrated wealth and power of Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos can no longer exist and to fund said programs? Maybe

Now what is clear to me is that there is a group that is diametrically opposed politically and philosophically to all of the above.

So maybe it’s time to put down the Ayn Rand novels and starting to having serious conversations and working on solutions to this?

Until that time it does seem like the one group that is willing to tolerate the working conditions established by the “magic market” and the any collective good is “socialism” stupidity are people from other countries whose alternatives are starving to death, being beheaded by local gangs, shot by the government, ect…

Anyhow, until the above begins to be addressed the leaks will continue because you’re essentially putting flex seal tape on an entire system that needs new piping.

maybe this is where I tell you I actually own a farm we farm ourselves. But I get your point, and I fundamentally disagree with a lot. Minimum skills deserve the minimum. I was poor once and I’m thankful for it. It made me hungry. People aren’t hungry anymore. Those people willing to take back breaking jobs should be our people but we cater them and make them not only the richest poor people on the planet but with subsidized housing, food, and medical they are basically retried. They are welfare kings and queens. Being a business owner during Covid I went down the rabbit hole of seeing just how much they would let me get since they shut us down.

$1100/wk unemployment (now $500)
$1200 food stamps
Free health care
And they wanted to pay my utilities and “rent”.

If you add subsidizing housing to that why work?
