Counting got-aways is not an exact science, but CBP has spent more than $1 billion over the past two decades on surveillance technology and camera networks that have given the agency far greater ability to detect illegal crossings in real time. Apprehending those individuals is another matter
Not sure if anyone can confirm but I have border patrol friends that say they can see them cross on cameras or satellite while they sit and watch but lack the man power to apprehend them all. I have a friend that works surveillance that one of his jobs is to blow up tunnels that extend from one side to the other using satellites and drones… yes drones. How do they measure that figure? So like the government has the ability to count the number of getaways and just....doesn't do anything about it? What can you do? Besides hire more IRS agents? So like the government has the ability to count the number of getaways and just....doesn't do anything about it? Wild.
Also - could you build the walls like they had in Lost?

Not a zero sum gameWhat can you do? Besides hire more IRS agents?
I agree but if you have a water leak you don’t run to the store and buy a new TV. Priorities. Not a zero sum game![]()
The software that does this has been around for a long time. Big brother has kept an eye on you every time you went to a Taylor Swift concert. So like the government has the ability to count the number of getaways and just....doesn't do anything about it? Wild.

lolBREAKING: Kevin McCarthy demands Mayorkas RESIGN or face IMPEACHMENT hearings starting January 3rd at the BORDER so Democrats will actually have to visit it

Yes, perfect analogy the IRS is a new TV and border security is a water leak.I agree but if you have a water leak you don’t run to the store and buy a new TV. Priorities.
If you need more money to fix the leak you find another source of revenue or you might do something to collect money you are owed.I agree but if you have a water leak you don’t run to the store and buy a new TV. Priorities.
I’m trying to find the sarcasm or joke somewhere but I’m leaning toward this just being a really dumb comment. If you need more money to fix the leak you find another source of revenue or you might do something to collect money you are owed.
I get it Musk needs to live out his astronaut fantasy and tweet or whatever, Don JR. needs to go on another hunting safari and the Kardashians need to be able to pay their fines for overwatering their 10 billion square foot lawn. Priorities.
Given your posting history I’ll chalk that up as a win for me! Thanks!I’m trying to find the sarcasm or joke somewhere but I’m leaning toward this just being a really dumb comment.
So you are saying if not for migrants the demand for workers would be greater so the pay might be greater for low skilled citizens? Or maybe these low skilled migrants are stunting innovation. 🤔For everyone pissing and moaning about “immigration” I’m going to let you in on what appears to be a very closely guarded secret given the fact that it never seems to be brought up much less discussed by our pal Kevin.
The entire food system in the US (growing, harvesting, processing, delivery, cooking) is built largely on a foundation of cheap, migrant labor.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Enjoy!
I know you are but what… ahh never mind. Priorities.Given your posting history I’ll chalk that up as a win for me! Thanks!
No, what I am saying is you should go round up a posse and go to your local grocery store and protest against the fruits and vegetables for aiding and abetting illegal immigrants! So you are saying if not for migrants the demand for workers would be greater so the pay might be greater for low skilled citizens? Hasta vaya bien!I know you are but what… ahh never mind. Priorities.
The number of border crossers have surpassed farm labor in 2022 alone. Unless you are saying immigrants are like cheap batteries and need to be replaced every month the fact remains there is a “water leak”.No, what I am saying is you should go round up a posse and go to your local grocery store and protest against the fruits and vegetables for aiding and abetting illegal immigrants!
Or fly them to Martha’s Vineyard or whatever.
Or encourage dummies like Kevin to engage in a good faith debate about immigration (might want to include US foreign policy as a driver in that one).

Unfortunately numerous sectors our economy are structured to treat labor in general like “cheap batteries”.The number of border crossers have surpassed farm labor in 2022 alone. maybe this is where I tell you I actually own a farm we farm ourselves. But I get your point, and I fundamentally disagree with a lot. Minimum skills deserve the minimum. I was poor once and I’m thankful for it. It made me hungry. People aren’t hungry anymore. Those people willing to take back breaking jobs should be our people but we cater them and make them not only the richest poor people on the planet but with subsidized housing, food, and medical they are basically retried. They are welfare kings and queens. Being a business owner during Covid I went down the rabbit hole of seeing just how much they would let me get since they shut us down.Unfortunately numerous sectors our economy are structured to treat labor in general like “cheap batteries”.
As it relates to food production I can say based on my own personal experience that crop harvesting by hand (good luck mechanizing picking melons, strawberries, lettuce, ect…) and food processing is back breaking and even in the short to medium term physically debilitating due to the repetitive motion required to be efficient.
I could say much the same about various service and construction sector jobs as well.
What might make that type of work more tenable to Americans?
Higher wages? Maybe.
Free medical care? Maybe
Paid leave? Maybe
Free child care? Maybe
How would that be achieved?
Unions? Maybe
Nationalized healthcare system? Maybe
Restructuring the tax code so assholes like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos can no longer exist? Maybe
Now what is clear to me is that there is a group that is diametrically opposed politically and philosophically to all of the above. So until people begin putting down their Ayn Rand novels and start having serious conversations and working on solutions to this it seems like the one group that is willing to tolerate the working conditions established by the “magic market” and the any collective good is “socialism” stupidity are people from other countries whose alternatives are starving to death, being beheaded by local gangs, shot by the government, ect…
Until that is addressed the leaks will continue because you’re putting flex seal tape on an entire system that needs new piping.
Just my opinion of course.
