Straight answers and solutions are almost non-existent. I realize it’s a complex problem but the lack of control at the border is obviously not being handled properly.
Yes, for those that actually clicked on the link to listen to the conversation I’d hope they’d it’d come off as a refreshing dialogue vs the typical partisan back & forth. Luttrell even kept it light-hearted when Myorkas committed a faux pas regarding his gender.

Can we do the same at the Mason Dixon Line?
Probably not since most Americans have no clue where the Mason Dixon line actually is. CNN reported it’s now taught as a line drawn my 2 white nationalists who voted for Trump & refuse to recognize genders as binary but Fox countered that is actually Abe Lincoln’s half-brother who was the true architect for ending slavery.

There’s too much money involved in the illegal drug trade for there to be a serious attempt to solve the issue on the supply side.

Remember all those financial institutions that had high level executives go to jail for being involved in money laundering for the cartels? Yeah me neither.

It’s easier to pin it all on a seamlessly never ending supply of former peasants, farmers and ranchers from rural Mexico and rant about border security.

It won’t be solved until we have full coverage of the border with armed drones killing anything trying to cross. There needs to be a no man’s land with fully manned trenches 24-7. Anyone who tries to cross gets killed.
Good idea. We could also pay the border guards a bonus for every person they take out. Prorated of course. Taking out a 65 year old shouldn’t pay as much as nailing a 23 year old since they can’t move as fast.

You’re absolutely right, Mexico will never hold up their end by efficiently helping to regulate the border. The use of “mules” by the cartels is going to continue……many of the people forced into the role. Plenty of corruption on the US side but it is much worse on the Mexico side where the cartels have so much power and influence. It is a huge factor that the US population has an insatiable appetite for the drugs the cartels are supplying. So we have a border that is poorly regulated, Mexico is weak, many downtrodden people coming through and from Mexico, many of those same people coming into the US illegally, a worn out/overworked US border patrol trying to chase them down and the drug cartels with massive power and money fueled by the people in the US.

Should be pretty cheap all said and done. No problems paying for that.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot is mad at Texas governor Greg Abbot for busing illegal immigrants to her city. Abbot has sent approximately 8000 of them since August and is about to send more. Lightfoot called it a "humanitarian crisis you have created.” What??? That Abbot created? Umm, Lori, your party and president are the ones encouraging illegals to enter in droves and refusing to do anything about it.

Abbot, along with other governors and mayors, has been routinely sending illegal immigrants to Democrat-led sanctuary cities in a "You created this problem, you deal with it" approach. Said Abbot, “President Biden's inaction at our southern border continues putting the lives of Texans—and Americans—at risk and is overwhelming our communities,” Abbott said at the time.

“Mayor Lightfoot loves to tout the responsibility of her city to welcome all regardless of legal status, and I look forward to seeing this responsibility in action as these migrants receive resources from a sanctuary city with the capacity to serve them,” he added.

In a private letter to the mayor, Abbot wrote,

Dear Beetlejuice,

Actions have consequences. Your party encourages illegal aliens to flood the border states and overwhelm our resources. You want them here and you want to declare your crime ridden metropolis a sanctuary city? Well, here ya go. Don't complain. I'm helping you. I have it on good authority from a source on IrishEnvy.com that they're a net economic plus to your economy, so see - I'm making Chicago a better and wealthier place. See You In Texas.

Faithfully Ur's

Greg

I hope the bus traffic only picks up as the next election gets near. They need to be dropping off in suburban Philly and Pittsburgh, Atlanta, New Hampshire, Omaha, and Wisconsin. Send them right to the blue dots of the swing states and remind the people what they did.

Joe's sending 1,500 troops to the border, but it's not to help secure the border. They will be doing the clerical work. We already have trouble keeping track of everyone and now we're going to send troops to handle the paperwork? This has chaos written all over it.

Border crossings are at their lowest level under Biden and trending down. It seems the measures he rolled out in anticipation of title 42 going away are working.

Border patrol is also getting a lot of help from red state national guard.

The upside to this is that whatever the cause it tends to snowball one way or the other. If you know people can't cross then crossing yourself isn't worth it (and vice versa). It's pretty clear you're better off staying in Mexico and setting up an appointment. You of course also need tight enforcement to make that work.

Hopefully this keeps up because you need the border to be under control to get any meaningful immigration reform. We really need to prioritize high skill tech people and medical personnel given our aging population/post covid labor gaps.

My son has a friend who is TX national guard working the border this summer. Forget Army and Marines - go border state National Guard or Coast Guard if you want to be in the action.

So Macron just went to an Elton John concert where there is video of him dancing the night away while his country was and still is on fire from African immigrants.

I can't even....

France looks like blue cities in 2020 and I don’t totally get why. We were close to doing our summer trip to Southern France, but glad we moved it.

Because of systematic racism in their police force amongst other things

Just about exactly the same thing going on in France that we see here fairly often. The police attempt to question or detain someone, and they refuse to comply or resist or attempt to flee... and get shot. I understand that they feel that being poor and/or brown paints a target on their back, but this isn't helping.

I feel like this happens in France every other month. Protesting is a way of life over there.

Listening to a fascinating podcast called “Big Sugar”. Early on, it’s documenting the huge sugar cane farms in Florida that claim they can’t get Americans to cut the cane (it’s a hellish job) so they give work visas to men from Jamaica to come work for them. They got paid less than minimum wage only to work a brutally physical job w/ shitty working conditions. This was in the 80s so I’m assuMing it got exposed and cleaned up (I’m not that far in the pod).

Electing someone without the surname La Pen has basically been the story of French politics for the last 25 years

I guess the French don’t want a fascist, white supremacist in power. Weird.
LOL! Calling everyone you dislike or disagree with a racist, fascist, or white supremacist is such a lazy substitute for reasonable discussion and overused to the point of now being meaningless.
