I do a lot of engineering work in south Texas, The scenario is a worst case for those areas. Houston is like New Orleans, it floods whenever it rains. The whole coastal area has subsidence, rising sea level, storm surge, and sustained heavy rainfall. The rivers will flow backwards during this event. Years ago we did work following Ike, the whole Bolivar peninsula east of Galveston was wiped clean. This will be a very ugly result by mid week.
High and dry up here in Dallas, although we will probably get some spin off rain.

Austin has a NWS Flash Flood Warning for the next 4 DAYS!

Good luck trying to move a mattress or box spring in heavy rains and 35 mph wind.
The mattress was literally the only thing we were able to move before being told that they were just gonna get movers...gotta laugh to keep from crying

I spent a couple of summers in college working for a moving company. I didn't expect you guys to even give it a try. Tough weather.

A assume he was trying to make the move before the end of the month to save some rent. He has a real friend.

Just an update from Houston. My family is quite safe as we are some of the few not in a flood plain here. We actually were able to drive around a bit tonight. But please keep the rest of the city in your prayers. The flooding is awful and so many people are going to be displaced from their homes. And many of those people are not the most affluent.

Like I said, this was always a disaster waiting to happen with all the contributing factors coming together: massive urban sprawl, tidal surge, poor drainage, excessive rain totals, extensive subsidence.
Their problems are just beginning: thousands of damaged homes, no utilities, mountains of trash/debris, roadways under water, families scattered, schools unable to open.
What a disaster.

This storm is going to be beyond a disaster. People have worked so hard for items such as: cars, houses, business it's really a shame. However with that said they can all be replaced lives can't. So when the officials tell you to get out because they are not sure what's going to happen because the storm is so strong leave people.

I am very glad to see people helping each other like it should be instead of the media telling us what side we are on. One team America.
