I’m firmly in the camp of “show me you are different”. I want this team to be different, but they need to show it on the field. Up until now the team isn’t on a different level in terms of its performance as most other “successful” years. Sure, it appears they are better, but it doesn’t matter if the product/result isn’t any different.

There is absolutely no reason for the team not to play loose in this game. Everyone thinks you are going to lose, including most if not all of the fans(whether they admit it or not). Go out and lay it all on the line. Sling it around. Take some chances. Literally nothing to lose and everything to gain. I’ll be wearing Blue and Gold all week and hoping for the upset.

I’m terrified about Crawford in coverage in this game.

In hindsight he should have taken Rogers out on that first TD. Just do that against Smith. Allow them into the red zone and try to make them settle for field goals.

Clemson set the recipe for defending Book. The pocket needs to move, they need to take deeper drops to give Book more room to move and help open up the screens and underneath patterns. And finally they are going to have to get some speed on the field and take some shots.

Play the long snapper at centre?

They do do it for American football players (i.e., give scholarships). Do you think poor foreign students who go to ND (I'm pretty sure most who actually go aren't poor, but whatever) aren't academically qualified? I don't know what the standard is, but admissions should not be signing off on kids who they think are incapable of graduating.

Couldn't they allow the footballers to go part time students? Take 2 courses a semester rather than 4 (or whatever it is)
It seems unfair that the footballers have to make the school a fortune plus do what all the other students do.

Um, no. That is is just patently ridiculous. You might as well just scrap universities if you are going with that idea.

Seriously, do you know how many college football athletes do NOT make it to the pros? 99%.

Read that again.

And then consider why sooooo many of them are literally broke within five years of leaving the pros, IF they get there. Because they do not get enough of an education.

And now you want to make football players PART TIME? What about MBB players? Why not women's athletes? Or Olympic Athletes?

Can we get all of the poor us out of the way today, but tomorrow have some freaking fun?

Yes, Bama will probably beat us easily. But what fun is it being a fan if you can't be irrational from time to time? How many times throughout the years have we seen some FCS team stick with a P5 team we all thought they'd learn their lesson from, only to see the game go down to the wire?

You have to play the games, and if we pull out an absolute miracle, I'm only donating ~1 week to being a rational person. Starting tomorrow it's no hold barred, and I'm looking forward to shocking the world and having some irrational optimism going into it. Also watching Rocky 4 tomorrow because it's real to me damn it.

LFG. Go Irish baby.

I’ve rewatched the ACC champ game a few times and watched the SEC champ game. First 2 plays of ACC champ game Clemson played 7 or 8 in the box 1 high safety. We ran twice a for 4 yards? 3rd and 7 they played Nickel, we picked it up but my thought is ok why can’t we check out of a run play when there are 8 in the box and 1 high safety? Just seems stubborn to me.

Book needs a sixth year before BK to give him permission to check plays at the line.

The thing is, in those FCS games, it's generally their super bowl and the P5 team generally is sleepwalking or straight up isn't very good.

Alabama will likely be wide awake

Will they? You know their players think we're a joke and it's NFL season for them. I know they'll take the Clemson game seriously, but ND after that embarassing loss to Clemson?

With Saban coaching? No way he lets his players not take this game seriously. Trust me, they won't be overlooking ND or taking a win for granted.

Bama doesn’t have too many let downs because the good thing about having all the 5* players is their 75% is usually good enough to beat other teams at full go.

Its the Bama FANS that lack motivation for games like this. They have been so spoiled with success, they get to watch an entertaining game once, maybe twice a year.

In 2012, we were in a Bama section, and one guy told us (frankly, not rudely), alot of them were more excited to attend the SEC title game a few weeks before, because they knew that would be a better game than the ND one.

I assumed that’s why Saban was ok w/ letting players go home for three days. Figures if some key players get COVID or contact traced it would at least make the game competitive and motivate the team. If not, everything works out perfectly: kids eat to visit home & then they can cruise to victory at full staff and use ND as a tune up for Clem/tOSU.

Last time they did that was 2009. I don't think Saban ever let that happen again.
