Its not the misspelling of the word that makes me laugh. I am not trying to channel dshans. I like it when two words are blended together to make a new word. I love Filipeno.

My wife mixes words together all the time. My personal favorite of hers was "Helligan". Mixture of hellion and hooligan.

I know this is an obvious statement as most know I married one,.. but light skinned Filipino women like that are so freakin attractive to me...

Want some proof??.. Go watch Filipino soaps if you ever get the chance, if you think Telemundo has gorgeous, scantily clad, women… you ain’t seen nothing bubba…

Anyway, back to the Holidays…

I have my own little tradition of going deer hunting every Thanksgiving morning. It's only a 3 year old tradition but traditions have to start at some point.

I have defiled this thread enough. Here is a serious holiday tradition:

My wife and I cut a thin piece off the bottom of the trunk of each Christmas tree we have ever had and we make an ornament out of it. We write the year on it and decorate it a bit. It looks kind of cool to have the round wood ornaments - especially now that we are up to 13 Christmases together.

I understand and appreciate the thread. I'll have to get back to you, if I can work through the tears. At 61 I've been through many "traditions." I'm Irish and have memories and stories to tell, much to the distaste, disdain and disgust of many.

Suffice it to say, Thanksgiving and Christmas fill my head and heart with memories that warm my soul.

Food and family are paramount.

I'm with you Dshans. 61 and food and family is paramount.

I love just to sit back and watch the 8 little grandkids run around and tear our house up. We do have a tradition of playing nickle/dime poker. With five kids and their spouses we usually end up with two games going.

All right, wise-guy, with today's access to information you could confirm that I was born 7/21/52 in St. Vincent's Hospital, NYC. If stymied, you might expand your search to "shans," baby "B." I was a surprise twin (no sonograms, scans, etc. way back then) and wasn't assigned a proper "Christian" name until late August when my twin sister "shans," baby "A," were expected to survive.

My opinions and attitudes are colored, infused and influenced by my knowledge of the experiences of my extended family, whether my Irish immigrant paternal grandparents or my German/Scots/Welsh/Russian maternal grandparents. History and civics classes and experience over the years also come into play.

Now, to bring this all into perspective; for those not "in the know": Bring it on, Muthafuggah!

Yes, I know, I know --- I bring it on myself. It's all part of the game ...

I'm bumping this fine thread, in case folks missed it earlier.

Cooking today, and turning recipe surplus ingredients into a kickass mixed grill plus. Should go well with an IPA.

My best to all.

So who else does the big fish dinner on Christmas Eve?? My wife has to work so this is the first year we aren't going home for Christmas ... which means it's up to me to cook the Feast of the Seven Fishes. First time ever attempting, but it can't go wrong as long as the white wine flows. I think I'm gonna cheat a little and do a big cioppino ... get all the fishes in one dish. Hope you all have fun plans for Christmas Eve!!
